      No, no usually–if given under the seal of the confessional. That is, if it was told under the context of asking forgiveness. Under other circumstances, priests have similar rules of response to other people. That is, lawyer cannot be required to reveal if their clients are guilty of the accused crimes–because that would be prejudicial to their defense. But if they learn about other crimes through other means, they can and sometimes are required to report those crimes to suitable authorities.
