I still admire the strength in M’s arms… to be effortlessly heaving such a monumentous bosom… whew!

You know, it’s kind of strange… Large breasts, for all that they put strain on the lower back, don’t actually weigh that much (at least the real ones don’t…can’t speak for implants).

I’m sure you were just being funny, but it used to really confuse the heck out of me how that could be so. Over the years I’ve decided it must be something akin to holding a one pound item with your arm extended for a good length of time…it seems to get heavier as your muscles get tired.

Hmm…I bet Mon doesn’t stand around with her arms crossed for more than a minute at a time. :)

Maybe so…and then again, maybe “heavy” is too vague a term. :)

Now I’m going to be wondering how much mine actually weigh, and if there’s a good way to measure that…

It’s a ratio of actual mammary gland to fat tissue for an individual. Fat being the heavier tissue because it stores energy in the form of oily liquid. (think the weight difference between a quart of corn meal & a quart of water)
What ever the “load” (Stop that! I’m being technical here!), that must be carried will now be a function of the size of the upper torso. Thus a small or slender woman will have greater stress on her frame that a more average or larger woman with the same or even more mass in her breast.

I’m assuming Mon is wearing one of her highly-customized bras under there, so that’s gotta be bearing some of the load, right?

        geekoncall

The load is still being conducted to her torso by the bra straps. Her frame still has to bear the load.

        Class dismissed !

I can see why Amanda says that:

    1) They did work together to save the world.
    2) Given their experiences, the fact that they want to save the world (and that they are trying to help people) means that they are kind people at heart.
    3) The fact that they have seemed to have defied the modern expectation that power corrupts.

The actual quote is not that “Power corrupts…” but that “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” Source

Note the “almost always” in that observation.

It is possible to be powerful and not corrupt.

I wonder if it is like many other things, you get better at it the more you practice…the problem is, few who are handed power have had any practice, so like kids let loose in the candy store, tend to go a bit overboard…

…and those who grab power by force have already likely done bad things in order to wrest power from others, even if their motives were altruistic…

…so those who can wield power and be altruistic would assumably be quite rare. And it makes sense to me that if one is truly altruistic while in power, one might also be projecting an air of weakness, inviting those from my previous paragraph to wrest power away…

It reminds me of the Pardoner’s tale in a sense. The nature of a thing that everyone covets tends to cause the undoing of those who get it.

    Well
The fact M said that Bud was a clay golem and not ‘was turned into a clay golem which then assisted with the distruction of half the planet’ means she might be missing out some important facts. Remembering how shelly reacted to Bud, I doubt I would tell the whole truth also.

That’s kinda endemic of all oracles, more or less. If you give them the answers right off, they don’t actually learn, do they? If you can get them to give some think, then what gets worked out will stick in the long run. What Monica said isn’t “need to know” as much as it’s “able to currently absorb.”

Actually, I think she’s already been told (http://wapsisquare.com/comic/sounds-crazy/), although how Monica explained about Jin without also telling her about Bud is unclear.

And I can understand Amanda’s opinion. With the GGG at her side, Monica could have made herself queen of the Earth by now. Instead, she and the others are quietly trying to fix things. Admittedly they didn’t have much choice with the Calendar Machine, it was change things or be stuck in the same cycle for eternity with an increasingly demented Jin, but it STILL took courage. And pulling Maya out of the Demon Realm was pretty altruistic…

I’m not sure that she identified Jin either, and I doubt that she mentioned Brandi. The key issues that she needed to tell Amanda about was that there was a powerful, immortal and schizophrenic being. Monica wouldn’t have needed to fill in the other details. I think Monica was trying to protect the GGGs’ privacy as much as possible. Once Amanda saw Bud poit, there was no point in hiding Bud’s nature.

I think that Amanda thinks that it wasn’t just Monica and Bud who were behaving altruistically. There was also Tina and Phix. If both of them decided to include Amanda because Amanda had some knowledge needed to fix Jin, then it seems that they were behaving altruistically, too.

From Amanda’s earlier summary of what M has told her, I get the impression that M kinda went really skimpy on a lot of the gory details. Can’t really blame M on that point — Phix might not want to be fully outed quite yet. I think M is avoiding the less than reassuring history of the creatures and individuals involved — tossing in “oh yeah, I’ve been hanging out with three girls that together were responsible for wiping the civilization of Atlantis off the maps – plus most of the other surrounding civilizations that knew anything about them in the bargain” would be TMI for the moment.

And frankly, I could do with some explanation from Phix about the incident in Tina’s coffee shop. Either Monica heard something Phix did not say, or Phix lied to her. I would really like to see Monica follow up on that.

Besides, we haven’t seen the Library annex.
