Low blood pressure will do that?

Can make you dizzy. Even pass out. Sounds like, if he’s not lying down, he may actually only have enough blood to power one head or the other.

Sharply-dropping blood pressure equals fainting. I suppose a lesser drop in blood pressure could result in a sort of daze, short of actual fainting. .. especially if his starting blood pressure was lower than normal.

And, since blood is a liquid and not very compressible, pressure would drop if the volume to be filled was suddenly increased. An adrenaline surge at the same time might not be enough to compensate.

Coming from a family with the same problem, their are three easier ways to fix that.

        1. He needs to eat a lot more fats in his diet.
        2. He needs to increase his iron intake drastically.
        3. He needs to stay hydrated. Being even marginally dehydrated can cause problems when you have low blood pressure. My family has found that eating lots of grapes helps a lot too.

There’s something else that has most of those same symptoms…Hypoglycemia, which is a sudden drop in the level of blood sugars (glucose). It’s potentially just as dangerous as low blood pressure, as it can lead to diabetes & even brain death if episodes are frequent over a long period of time.

I had to look up “otakus.” Thought it was something to do with their species. But it’s a Japanese term for people with obsessive interests, often manga or anime.

From what I learned way back when in Japan it’s seen as a negative obsessive thing. But in the US fans of anime/manga and such long since adopted it as a positive thing. Here it just means “fan of Japanese geeky stuff.” Super common term I’d be very surprised anyone in geek-space didn’t know.

nope Otaku varies in meaning in japan its kind of derogatory word similar to Obsessive Nerd (in any subject but particularly to the anime/manga) or the British Anorak. I the US and rest of the world its a a little less derogatory and by otaku is normally embraced as a badge of honor. In the US it has become something of a badge of honor with the embracing of nerd culture the alst 10-15 years.

Well back in the early days, getting your hands on anything Japanese anime or manga related outside of Japan, was almost a rite of passage. Then came the Internet and the ability to easily connect with people who shared your interests but were in a totally different geographic region. Which helped everyone feel validated for all the time and effort they put in. And like any true fandom, you can’t help but want to welcome in and share with any new people who find your hobby. Thus the rise of the Western (Americas and Europe) Otaku.

I think that Timothy used the word to signify that they are both anime fans. And even though low blood pressure hasn’t been a problem for me for the last forty-plus years, it would give me an attack of the jitters! One time as I was conducting the Physics 204 lab as an undergraduate teaching assistant, and I stood up too quickly and fainted! Fortunately no harm was done, and I recovered before the professor that the students summoned showed up, though I still had to fill out an incident report.

Minor typo: Scarlet said “Dayla”, where it’s always been spelled “Daylla” in the strip and tags until now.

Well, it might just be that Scarlet has an interesting accent 🙂

Future Scarlet is a lucky lass, that is a significant volume of blood being diverted…

Timmy’s Fairy Godfather blessed him with a magnificent wand.
