Well, a couple of pages before the one you linked, Bud did explain that the eye lights/face light power is tapped using fear, anger, and doubt. I’m betting that Mon’s feeling a large quantity of fear and doubt right now.
You know, I’m not sure that it ever occurred to Monica that her eye lights came on back then. She would have been pretty distracted at the time and might not have wanted to think about what happened afterward.
The eyelights remind me of how Dark Vision is depicted in Order of the Stick (see http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0076.html for an example)…except that they’re more dramatic to watch. But then, Monica and the Golem Girls are pretty decorative already.
I thought that Phix was going to leave Tina in peace, with her tea, of course. So where did Tina go? Maybe one of her Demons needed to go to the little girl’s room. Hopefully, Amanda will remain upstairs, or this is going to get awkward.

Thatnotwithstanding (and being as slow on the uptake as I often am), I just understood the reason she said it as she she did. She could see in the dark because her eye lights came on, which we could see, but she doesn’t realise.
Are we now about to find out what was under that freshly poured concrete floor? The one that was a contributing factor to Tina getting such a good price for the place? I’d provide the link if I could find it …
Of course we could see something really unexpected, such as The partial skeletal remains of Phix with Tina licking her fingers clean. She could stop a moment to loudly say something to the skull like “Wrong answer, dumbass!” Whereupon we would pan to Monica who would have that same tearful expression Tina had recently. Tina would then say to Monica, “Got time for a riddle?”. Fade to black amid manical laughter.

My guess is that Monica will find something interesting other than Tina. The diaries (finally)? The source of the odd smell? Something else Tina brought with her? Meanwhile, Tina might be home curled up in a fetal position with her cat or Phix may have taken her out to show her where to buy proper loose leaf tea.

The more hyper natural aspects that she gains in the storyline the less I prefer the character. I get the odd feeling that by the time we reach the next major disclosure that the only “normal” person will be Dietzel… oh, he is a dog so that does not count.
Love the art – especially the use of texture in the never before seen basement of the coffee shop.
I noticed that as well. It made the stairs look quite realistic. It’s touches like that which make the drawings so much better, given the contrast between such things and the way the characters are drawn.

This isn’t really a new aspect, though. She had those eye lights back from when she was preparing to tune the Calendar Machine.
She just isn’t aware that she’s using them to find her way in the dark, at first.
I think the wood grain in the stairs is a very nice touch. I couldn’t help but think of Paul’s previous vocation when I saw the lens flare, though.
