I think it’s just a lampoon of the speed of certain scenes taking months of real time to complete. There’s gotta be TV trope for it, but I’m not going in there.
And the real irony is, if they hurry, they can make it to the beach in time for Summer.

It’s probably more of a lampoon at some earlier comics about quick weather changes – like how they went out in miniskirts but came home in snowfall.
