Indeed.. And I know teenagehood is tricky. But, even as obvious as Pickle makes her feelings, she also makes it clear she doesn’t seem ready to think of Hiroshi in a healthy way. If she wants to ask him out, she should ask him out.`
I get the feeling that Shawna has put a lot of energy into thinking about having a relationship with Hiroshi as she imagines him to be (or wants him to be). Unless a lot has happened off-camera, I’m not sure she really knows who he is or how he really feels… and when reality clashes with her hopes and dreams, she’s crushed. Poor kid… but a lot of her hurt is self-inflicted.
Lots of people can project great confidence in professional environment, but have trouble in a personal one.
When you’re a teen, it seems like the biggest deal ever, but hindsight shows that it wasn’t. As an adult, it can have a severe impact on your wellbeing, but most people learn to mitigate its effects.
Nobody belongs to anybody else. Hiroshi has as much say in this matter as either of them, and with as much as Castela seems to fight or deny her attraction to Hiroshi, I’d say he’s as much up for grabs as anyone. At least Shawna has had the guts and taken the plunge to ask to get to know Hiroshi better.
Yeah, sure, Hiroshi knows a lot about Castela, and even seems attracted to her.. but I think most would eventually get turned off by the tsundere act and fine more pleasant company.
and won’t it be a hoot, when Hiroshi is finally pinned between the two of them, being demanded to “pick one of us!”… and he’s like… “um… NEITHER… i really have the hots for XYZ” … that person being someone that we’ve never seen onscreen yet!!… and maybe it’s a female, maybe it’s a MALE… after all, that could have been the reason that the Fey girl transformed him in the first place,… He wanted some GUY and NOT HER!, and it was such an insult to her ego that her only response as to remove him from the field…
Come on, Hiroshi! Even if that’s what you were thinking, you don’t say it. You lie! “Oh Shawna, there you are. I was just about to start looking for you”
By the way, I’ve been meaning to rant about how I have to sign in each and every time I want to post something. It didn’t used to be that way. And it’s not the only site with that sort of problem for me. Now, I don’t know what causes it, or what I myself may have done to cause it—but it is annoying.
Same here, using Chrome on an Android tablet… this started some weeks ago. But, I think I see different behavior when I use Firefox… it does remember me.
I know my tablet’s Chrome settings are now set to “Do not track”. I suspect that this might be preventing the Wapsi site from trying to issue a user-identity cookie or some other form of long-lived credential.
Doesn’t seem to affect the Wapsi forum, though (phpBB), just the main strip site (WordPress/ComicPress).
for what it’s worth — I’m using Chrome, but all I do here is type in a comment (autofil thinks it’s an address), then I click on the name and autofill prompts me with my name, and I click on it, then I click on the email and autofill shows it to me and I click on it, then I click post comment. (I don’t have a gravatar.)
It’s not just here, some other places do it as well, recently Europe passed some privacy law and that might have something to do with
Not as bad of a law as their recently passed Anti-Parody Law (more like an Anti Fair-use Law, butt it basically means the end to Parody and Memes)
o Castela took Tim to a Cosplay Convention [Stressing in NO uncertain Term that it was “NOT a Date.”]
o Scarlet assumed it was exactly that, confessed to Tim, and ran away in tears.
o Tim went after her, said it was mutual, and told her what Castela had told him [taking it at face value – YEAH “thick as a brick.”]
o Castela HEARD them, Freaked, and put on a brave face for the sake of her friends’ happiness.

o Scar now thinks “been there, done that” [She hasn’t.]
o She thinks she understands how to help [She doesn’t – Castela helped THEM.]
Maybe she CAN help, but shouldn’t she have the others Corral Shawn and Stella, and shouldn’t the one She’s talking to be Hiroshi?
The pain that Scarlet felt, and her “walking away” from Timmy, aren’t identical to what Shawna is going through… but they’re close enough to give her a genuine sense of sympathy and a willingness to listen and empathize, I think.
“Helping” doesn’t have to mean “fixing it” or even “knowing how to fix it”. Helping a person who is in pain, can sometimes just be a matter of giving them the chance to not have to be in pain alone.
A sympathetic ear and a shoulder to cry on, and an occasional open question, can work wonders.
Correct, and perfectly fair, but there is so much potential for crossed wires here. Pickle solved Tim and Scar’s problem, by taking it on herself.
The only point of similarity is that Hiroshi, like Tim, can resolve it. Let’s hope that Scarlet can be a Catalyst, since she can’t, really be part of the reaction. As several others have pointed out, it is alsoo a question whether Hiroshi is innocent in the matter that Tim was, [or if Castela is.]
If the key is sticking down due to an obstruction between the keys (dirt, a bit of paper, dropped food particles) you can take the key caps off with a key puller (videos on YouTube show how), clean the area (brushes, Q-tip dipped in alcohol, canned air), and snap the caps back on. It /might/ be possible to lubricate a sticky key’s mechanism with the right lubricant but I don’t know what would be safe to use on a Cherry MX (maybe LPS 1 greaseless?). Replacing a defective keyswitch would be a bigger job. If the keyboard is less than two years old you might be able to have it repaired or replaced under warranty.
It’s less then 6 moths old. Thanks! those are excellent suggestions. I’ll check out that YouTube Video. I seem too remember it came with a key puller, provided I didn’t throw it out. I don’t recall what it looks like. I remember using a ballpoint or small screwdriver with the old PS2 “Clacky” keyboards. I don’t recall doing it more then once, and it wasn’t my keyboard. 8D Stone knives and Bear Skins.
Power Off.
Press Down suspected Sticky Key, while holding down, rotate & wiggle finger about.
Release and Repeat.
Tip unit on it’s side (like on edge, but on a comfy towel.
Tap and otherwise dislodge dust & particles, blowing with sharp breaths as well.
Power still OFF, Hold unit upside down and gently shake the unit back ad forth, listening for rattles ad particles.
Reboot.
You likely have cookie crumbs or other debris i there, you can crunch them away and restore the liveliness of the key.
Try this before you start pulling keycaps off.
For somebody who can be as take-charge as Shawna can be, she certainly seems to have a problem asserting herself.
Indeed.. And I know teenagehood is tricky. But, even as obvious as Pickle makes her feelings, she also makes it clear she doesn’t seem ready to think of Hiroshi in a healthy way. If she wants to ask him out, she should ask him out.`
That would be a healthy thing to do, yes.
Nothing unusual there.
Lots of people can project great confidence in professional environment, but have trouble in a personal one.

Ah, Shawna. stick to your guns.
The vixen makes a great den mother
Well, at least one of these doofuses has a head firmly on their shoulders.
Shawna needs to quit banging her head on that wall. And she knows it. It’s clear Hiroshi belongs to Castela.
Just like Timmeh belonged to Stela previously? o_O
No, Stela should be with Day, so she can stop disrupting other couples
That’s some good ship there

It’s clear to Shawna that Hiroshi belongs to Castela. That’s why she walked away crying.
Distressing! and they have issues with how their dressed to begin with.
I’m starting to get a real “Doki Doki Literature Club” vibe here and It’s making me uncomfortable.
wHiroshii is on his way to being the Ado Annie of Wapsi Square.
At least Scarlet recognized what was going on, and went with Shawna. Hopefully she’ll talk her down (or up, as needed).
In comes Scarlet with the mom save again.
Come on, Hiroshi! Even if that’s what you were thinking, you don’t say it. You lie! “Oh Shawna, there you are. I was just about to start looking for you”
…and the Scarlet friend-ambulance comes to the rescue!
You just can’t win at love, can ya Shawna? 🙁
BTW, I wonder if Shawna is a Para also…
Ummm… yes, definitely. Paul has stated that she is a Pixie, Wapsiverse-style.
You can see her going into her native form in this strip (last panel, on the left) and subsequent ones.
http://wapsisquare.com/comic/get-up/
So THATS what a Pixie looks like? With all the eyes, I thought she was an east Indian Deity or some such…
No, really getting the “Hiro likes to jerk pretty girls around” vibe

OK! this doesn’t parse. The Parity is off:
o Castela took Tim to a Cosplay Convention [Stressing in NO uncertain Term that it was “NOT a Date.”]
o Scarlet assumed it was exactly that, confessed to Tim, and ran away in tears.
o Tim went after her, said it was mutual, and told her what Castela had told him [taking it at face value – YEAH “thick as a brick.”]

Yes, she has been there, done that. (See link to “Put Back Together.”)
She had been “consoling” Timothy every time Cass and Day tossed him aside, from kindergarten onwards.
%#^*& Sticky oo Key! Is there a way too fix that , on a Corsair Strafe?

(after posting, I see that my own keyboard has a funky ‘N’ key. I’ll get right on that…)
