Of course, with Tina as the barista, even a plain 16-ounce cup o’ black leaded is served with a dose of shamanic insight that would do justice to an entire ayahuasca ceremony. And that’s even before the Jaguar Girl arrives.
I remember seeing the Virgin of Guadalupe icon on the wall in Mucho Mocha years ago… I don’t think it’s new.
I’m not sure about the papel picado… considering that this week is the Day of the Dead celebration, they may have just gone up as a seasonal decoration. Possibly a tribute to Tina 1.0, perhaps?
The place looks great… as does Tina. Interesting to hear her imply that she’s taking some “days off” now.
I really do hope we learn more about her evolution towards becoming a unified “Tina 3.0”, if that’s still in the cards…
It’s nature’s cruel joke, Castela. Your friends start pairing up with significant other others, and before you know it they’re with them and you’re all alone and lonely ’cause they want to be with them and not you.
Am I right in thinking that you are now using three-dimensional models for interiors? If so, good call! It should make things *so* much faster to sketch places that are used often, though that also means places that *aren’t* used as often will look substantially different unless you also take the extra time to model them. All in all, I consider it a good tradeoff, though I would fade the background quite a bit, as well as unfocus it so that the sharp, clear characters and dialogue will stand out even more from the busyness of the background.
You sure it’s only one friend, Castela?
Yeah, Day is Stela’s only Real Friend, the rest of the gang are just people she is friendly with (and yes, there is a difference)
Plain ‘ol coffee!? I thought they didn’t sell that at Mucho Mocha… http://wapsisquare.com/comic/09282001/
And what happened to the counter? http://wapsisquare.com/comic/a-lot-in-common/
That was probably at Becky’s suggestion. And the Hennepin County Health Department’s.
They certainly do sell plain ol’ coffee!

hmm, it been a few years since then!! and you gotta keep up with the market, or you lose out…. :/
Oh! And Tina! <3 <3 <3
SOOO GLAD to see these folks again! 🙂 THANK YOU! It’s like old friends returning you’ve not seen for aaages!
Love the details in the background!
Nice evolution. Printed menus when before it was chalkboard (or maybe whiteboard). And religious iconography, too.

My goodness, Pickle seems all grown up.
No time skip mentioned, same age as she was a bit ago. Freshly 14 and entering highschool.

And you may have had a chance with your own SO, buuut…
That’s little Castle??? She’s growing up SO fast (where does the time go *sniff*)
Is it just me, or is Tina’s left hand missing/being sucked into a void/[your explanation here]?
It’s hanging out where the under boob lives …
I think it’s called an “armpit.”
Also, we’ve seen that Castela has extremely serious issues about abandonment.

Well, noone likes to feel like they’re a second-string friend.
