In case people anyone else is momentarily confused, there’s been a timeskip to later that afternoon, in case people are wondering why Ms Alger says “before Briar gets here” when on the previous page she’s already there.
No, Ms Alger had wanted to talk to Stela first, to give her a heads up and probably would have if Stela and Shawna hadn’t taken the time to follow Briar and got to class too late to talk to her, but now that Briar is here already, this is as good a time as any
This may be as much a project to help Castella develop as a responsible individual as it is to guide and protect Briar.
I am sure Castella’s stability and reliability are a top priority at the school, and what better way to stress test her than to make her care for someone she doesn’t really know.
That kind of advanced/pre-mature worry skill is something I’m keenly familiar with. It apparently makes me very good at my job (I work in the compliance and supervision department for a financial firm), but man does it wreck my ability to feel/remain calm. I hope Cas doesn’t find herself suffering the stress that kind of worry can bring.
The only responsibility that Castela is being given is to walk with Briar to each of her classes and possibly sit with her at lunch. Briar qualifies for and IEP (individualized education program) so in regards to her learning she has assigned special education teachers, teacher aids for certain classes, and restructuring of her given curriculum.
These are valid concerns, considering her childhood in the orphanage.
Before making any judgment calls, I’d like to meet the sister that’s been reported.
“Hunny.” Kicks me right out the story every time I see it.
Oh, I think Castella’s gonna help Briar find her groove, all right. 😀

And in case anyone is confused about my previous post, that was a deliberate attempt by my subconscious to regain the confusion my post had lost.

No timeskip involved

I’ve always seen it spelled “Honey” so it throws me, too.
I suspect the spelling is a regional accent.
Every time Briar speaks I think of certain galaxy police detective I know of… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhZNJeriNK0

“Sweetie” doesn’t bother me; it at least looks like English. But “hunny?” What language is that?
It’s ‘honey’ (in case you were being serious)
i read Hunny as if it is said in a southern usa accent.
