Valerie’s about to get forcefully dragged down to Poseidon’s or Mucho Mocha and ordered to have a good time. In fact, I think Tina could be of some help here.

I’m at a loss. How does a lack of self-worth translate into badmouthing Digit’s friends?

And thus is a connection made between the Wapsverse and grandmaster chess.

The great, late grandmaster Miguel Najdorf was, when I met (and was whomped by) him, a very nice old man who would play 5-minute chess with anyone. The story was told that he once played several games with an amateur, whomping him of course, and the amateur was getting agitated at getting whomped — not mad at Najdorf, who still one of the top players in the world at advancing age, but at himself. Finally, after the guy slapped himself across the forehead, Najdorf stopped and said, “Sorry, but I am not going to play with you any more.” Chastened, the opponent asked why not, and Najdorf replied, “Because you are hurting someone who is a friend of mine.”

The guy got the point. Hopefully Val will too.

I’d tell Digit to fuck off at this point. In the past I’ve expressed personal annoyances at things I’ve done, or thought I hadn’t/couldn’t accomplished and it’s generally been so I can -vent-.

That would actually be progress. Valerie valuing herself enough to defend her boundaries would be better than letting Digit roll over her.

Paul liked Digit’s determination and facial expression in yesterday’s third panel so much, he brought it out again for everyone to appreciate!

As someone with an anxiety disorder, I need a Digit in my life.

*winces* I get what Digit is trying to do.. but I know where Valerie is coming from too.. getting snapped at that like that would just make me shut down…

As someone with Anxiety… I would break down crying at this point if friend was being this harsh to me. Yelling at me to stop being hard on myself just makes those thoughts louder that all I am doing is annoying others and making others slowly hate me and start to withdraw from interacting with the person in the future, come up with excuses of things I have to do instead.

I’ve been there done that too. And yes, there’s a point where anxieties dig in and won’t budge.

At this point it’s a coin flip gamble. On the plus side Digit and Val have been friends for 5 years and Val has been on the positive enforcement side of this conversation before so it’s not as “much” of a gamble.

Yes. Way back when Valerie was first introduced, she was the one being supportive of Cori, (Had to archive dive for her name) the troll kindergarten teacher. She wasn’t this harsh, but still……..

Digit just needs to kidnap Valerie and take her out somewhere fun. Poseidon’s, Mucho Mocha, the movies, anywhere. Most of Digit’s friends are outgoing, encouraging, and accepting. Would be a great way for Monica and her group to show up again.
