Methinks the strain of the change to the fabric of space was too much for the over stressed buttons on her top. Why to I feel she works for a certain someone’s mother…
I see the young scientist is about to (temporarily I hope) introduce enough vacuum for a decompression event. Exhale? Scream! You don’t want a bit of air in your lungs when that happens.
Digital tuning only works when the source transmitter is also frequency locked to the same digital spectrum. If it’s analog, you may need the fine tuning of analog to match it precisely.
(For example, many years ago, I went to a drive-in theater that was “radio-active” which means they transmitted the sound over the AM Radio band, except they tuned to a frequency ending in 5khz (ostensibly to avoid collisions) — except that all the digital radios in the cars could only tune to frequencies ending in 10khz, and there were few if any radios with analog tuners. They switched frequencies…)
No wonder everything went apeshit- Digital denotes two static modes of operation; 1 and 0 only. Analog allows greater dynamic fine tuning of frequency expression to adjust for any/all Heisenberg compensation factors (Scar wanted everything ‘just so’) when dealing with inverse polarity between hyper-galactic planetary planes, there’s no time for surprises…
Digital TUNING is different than digital signal. Digital tuning is more accurate when working with signals that are mechanically produced, for a naturally generated signal (that might be off by a 1/4 frequency) analog is the only way to go.
Absolutely! As was said, analog lets you get everything ‘just so’ but digital typically doesn’t give that luxury. But let’s all read the comic and find Paul’s take on all this…
Digital vs analog is an eternal struggle…I remember in the 90s when cell phones started to propagate, the analog designers who got the first networks working were considered gods on earth because their ability to get things to work in what was considered a chaotic continuum seemed like black magic…Lately analog designers are finding precise and deterministic digital capabilities to be just as magical…
The secret, of course, is that even digital signals are actually analog.
The problem Scarlet is facing is one of precision. The number of digital bits assigned to the Tachyon Nullifier control is insufficient to tune it to the exact setting it needs to be in order to prevent everything from going all Picasso.
Well, that needlessly insulting outburst isn’t going to win her any friends. Things like this require tact, and not just in the execution. She may have trouble getting approvals in the future. Or maybe not in the Taylorverse. Paras do tend to solve things with fang, claw and huge bursts of directed energy. Basically, mind your place in the pecking order or become dinner. Often “served” tatare
Considering it sounds like this person is the reason that the experimental equipment was set up incorrectly in the first place, I’d say Scarlett is justified in being dismissive.
…I foresee Scarlet’s future career in the sciences involving a lot of HR visits which will be summarized as “Does not play well with other scientists”.
Then again, the most driven rarely do. The personality types who want to please everybody and get along don’t make for very decisive or firm leaders.
I find digital tuning more precise, but the main radio I listen to is analog.
Analog tachyon nullifiers sound better than digital. Everyone knows that!
It’s a coin toss. Heads say ‘Dramatic Skills Test’ set up, Tails says ‘Actual FUBAR save the day moment’.
What’s your call?
😀
If this is a real FUBAR moment then the team is grossly unqualified to do any of this, so my vote is “stress test”
That bit about exhaling? The room is about to be exposed to a vacuum. Everybody, breathe out! (Hurrrrrrrr…)
I’m betting the Analog setting goes Degas and everyone ends up wearing tutus en pointe.

Do they use Tubes? Monica might be a better choice of consultant.
🤔❗
Well… at least she steps up and takes charge when it calls for it! No half-measures with Scarlet!
Looks, brains, and now Leadership?
Her Godliness is showing through big time!
I didn’t hear her call out a warning. She just flipped the switch as soon as she met the machine.

They were broadcasting digital audio over an AM band? Ouch! Must’ve sounded awful!
I hate when that happens.

No pressure.
I loved the Guernica reference yesterday, Paul. An extra fillip of loveliness to your usual delightful work.
All right, tighten your shorts pilgrim, and sing like the Duke.

Just what *are* you doing, Scarlet Gail Duncan?
I didn’t know her middle name was Gail…
