I have heard about it from more experienced people in several different activities, the one that I was remembering it from when I typed it was when I was in swimming class several years ago it was for when we were practicing saving each other
I don’t know about the rest but as a lifeguard I do know that you grab wrists to pull an unconscious victim from the water (conscious non-spinal victims can usually grab the wall and help you a lot more)
