Something else we didn’t mention yet is that chewing and swallowing food is part of what helps tire you out. You can really see it in folks in their late 70s, and 80s, who start finding eating a full meal where they have to chew every bite exhausting. They start seeing the appeal of pureed foods and soup! Other older people start eating much less in general (granted, as North Americans, we eat much larger portions than we really need already, and the geriatrics are often not very physically active, burning calories anyway).
