Same here. I actually prefer not to kill spiders, even if they’re black widow spiders. But, my mother is afraid of spiders (Not arachnids, but spiders. Arachnophobia is the fear of arachnids, not just spiders, though that is the more commonplace usage of the word. Scorpions are arachnids, too, you know.) and forces either me or my brother to kill them or shoo them away when she even so much as sees one.
Wait, she’s not afraid of scorpions? That’s kind of unusual, to tell the truth. I would have assumed that one who was afraid of spiders would be just as afraid of other tiny multilegged creatures as well.
I like to leave the spiders in my house alone as much as practically possible, since I’m well aware they eat the insects that actually DO bite, buzz, and bother me.
Of course, if I find one crawling up my skin, all deals are off!!! O_O
I’m not particularly afraid of spiders, unless they resemble black widows, red widows, or brown recluses. Those I am reasonably cautious of, as they all have nasty venoms.
Then again, I have never encountered any spiders more than 1″ in diameter, except maybe harvestmen/daddy longlegs.
i dont mind the large tarantulas and such, but when i was 4 i got bit on the bridge of my nose after feeling a little one crawling up my body (should not have opened my eyes). i had nightmares for like a month, and still cant handle them
Spiders are terrifying, evil creatures and I wish Lady Athena had never created them. Godsdamn you Arachne!!! Snakes, however, are AWESOME. I want a pet snake.
Depends on which myth you read for how well this shows up, but Arachne wasn’t punished for being a better weaver, but for the disrespectful topic she choice for her competition tapestry. Remember she wove an set of images showing all the flaws or mistakes the gods had made, including Athena’s father consistently being unfaithful to his wife Hera.
And yet, it is a very special branch of the garden Weaver spider that is one of the most beneficial spiders, as well as be able to kill the Alien in the Alien movies. I think it’s the branch called the Sigourney Weaver spider.
Who wouldn’t be? BRRRR!!
I’m not afraid of them, I just respect them as creatures so I tend to not disturb them.

While I haven’t seen a live scorpion, I find them less repulsive than spiders. Don’t know why…

Yes, “Damn you Arachne!” For, uh… being a better weaver than Athena… I suppose.
Gods are arseholes.

Where is a rim-shot when you need one.
WAIT

Is his name spelled “Darin,” “Daren,” or “Darren”?
Because I’ve seen it each way.
Yes it is…
Depends on the day, I think.
