but they do say the more you know your phobia the less afraid it makes you. spiders dont work as the more you know about them the more you wonder how they havent killed all the humans and taken over the planet…
Clowns are the epitome of the unknown. They hide their true form in baggy clothes and their face behind makeup. Some don’t speak so they hide their voice, the fact is a clown is a fake person…
“They are tragic, and we laugh at their tragedy as we laugh at our own. The painted grin leers out at us from the darkness, mocking our insane belief in order, logic, status, the reality of reality. The mask knows that we are born on the banana skin that leads only to the open manhole cover of doom, and all we can hope for are the cheers of the crowd.”

But honestly, I’ve never understood what’s so scary about clowns. I think they’re funny. I even chuckle to myself just hearing the word “clown.”
…
cccllloooooowwwwwwwnnnnnnnn… hee-hee.
There are/were serial killers that were clowns.
John Wayne Gacy, killed at least 33 teenage boys.
He had buried them in his crawl space under his house.
There were probably others but wiki does not known about them. I would rather not go trolling down the dark areas of the internet to find them
There’s a comedian out there (whose name I have forgotten) whose father worked first as a clown, and later as a magician.
“Do you have any idea how CONFUSING it is, being angrily yelled at by a man with a big smile painted on his face?”
Never understood why some people find clowns scary. But that might have something to do with the fact that my dad was an amateur clown when I was little.
For me, it’s not clowns, it’s mimes. The exaggerated expressions and motions, the total silence rule…you don’t know if they’re mentally going over their grocery list for later, or thinking of 37 different ways they’d like to skin their audience alive.
Can you imagine if you were on a bus and had clowns on the left and a Joker on the right, and you were stuck in the middle, and then the bus was driving down Elm Street. Talk about a nightmare!
there really isnt a mystery behind clowns though.

Because they look insane, and insane people are impossible to predict what they will do.

The previous comments were of course made before the mass creepy clown sightings of late 2016. Somebody has yet to explain that to me.
Did you know fear of clowns is called Coulrophobia? 🤡🫨
