Soo it’s the frames that has the glamour on them. Wonder how Aphrodite convinced Hephaestus to make them for Mindy, what with their history.

      Maybe he’s the grandfather…

As far as I can tell, according to standard Greco-Roman mythology, he’s (1) Aphrodite’s ex rather than a current[sic] spouse and (2) not the daddy of any of Ms. A’s known offspring. It’ll be interesting to see how Pablo spins this; we know that he does his research.

@Graybeard: Well, unless Mindy’s mum (the daughter of Aphrodite) happens to be a couple of millenia in age, it’s highly unlikely that the details surrounding her conception would be covered in standard Greco-Roman mythology.

That’s where I was going with this. See below.

Hah! Had to be Hephaestus. “Outgrew”. Very funny.

I’m missing the reference. Can you explain?

The critical moment was when she picked up the box of condoms. Her response showed growth along lines other than physical. When we met her, she was in deep distrust and denial about her sexuality. In the past few days, she’s been more in tune with it, and then it hit some threshold. I think that’s the sense that her mom meant.

One begins to suspect that this relationship may be, in the long run, doomed…

You ruin that intellectual look when you stick your finger through the frames like that…

What does Mindy transform into? Or, what form is she changing to look human?

The glamour seems to more be a way to dampen her natural sexuality. But as far as the frames I would think that all the magic was in the lenses. The frames are probably just mostly indestructible but not the source of rhe glamour.
My guess is that the lenses were designed to shut down when she is ready for sex since they dampened her sexdrive as well as make her seem like an ordinary teen and not the physical sexpot she inherited from grandma.

She is descended from the Greek gods, and they generally looked human (except when they chose not to – vid. Zeus’ various disguises), so in all probability this is her natural look.

I was thinking along the lines of other paras being lions or bears or mythical “monsters”, and learning to camouflage their native appearances to look like humans. Her heritage from Aphrodite doesn’t automatically eliminate her having “other” critters in her background.

Given how promiscuous certain gods were, she could literally have something besides humans in her heritage. She might be a swan covering her avianity by practicing to appear human. Just as Timothy and Scarlet are lion-like without their glamour hiding their true nature..

Depending on who all she is a descendent of, she could have wings or other animal traits. Most likely she can shape change, most of the Greek and Roman deities had that ability, there are stories that imply her grandmother looked like whatever the beholder found most beautiful.

Yes, but take the case of Devyn’s Mom. We’re not limited to what happened before Hesiod. It’s been 2600 years. Of course, I would love to know Mindy’s ancestry. Ditto every other character in WS.

Peitho would be an interesting choice for Mindy’s Mom. Goddess of Persuasion and Seduction.

You just have to think of how Jeff Foxworthy might call out the ingredients of ketchup: “You take a big pile of ripe red ‘maters and youse boil ’em up…”

    The dichotomy of ‘maters..

The joke is tasteless… just like most supermarket tomatoes these days.

On there other hand, her glasses are an heirloom… and heirloom tomatoes are tasteful and delicious.

      Grow your own ‘maters.

Actually, would a ‘mater be the fruit of a tomato plant that was grafted onto a potato plant, or the tomato-like fruit that a potato plant produces when left to nature?

      Wait – “tomatoes”?

Where do people leave the “to” off? I have literally never heard that!

And what’s the “say” bit on the end?

I have read this page maybe a dozen times over the last two years, including all of the comments, and I still don’t get that whole “matersay” thing. It may be because I don’t speak with an American accent, I don’t know. I’ve tried to pronounce it every way I know how, and it still sounds like complete gibberish.
