It goes back to when we found out Lily and Kath were the last two surviving Anasazi. Kath was originally six fetuses crammed together in one crystal through an inadequacy of the storage system, and Lily seems to have been one of the mothers.
You need two people.
One actual painter and one holding a “shield” on the other side. The shield allows painting with wild abandon and virtually no loss to drip. The job goes real fast that way, well worth the extra hand.
Yeah, but first you need to sand it, prime the rusty spots with Corroseal or something similar, prime the whole thing with metal primer, and then paint it while someone stands in mid-air to hold a shield outside Katherine’s high balcony. Or just get after it with a brush and a whiz roller in the usual manner.
Lily is one-sixth of Katherine’s mother – Katherine is the embodiment of six unborn Anasazi children and Lily, the five-thousand-year-old vampire, is one of the mothers, who were dumped in the desert to die. Apparently, she was the only one string enough to come back as a vampire – or, come to think, maybe she was the last to die, and so died alone and unknown, thus satisfying the Wapsiverse conditions for becoming one.
That, and lots more, including how Katherine and Atsali met, are in the “Katherine Gilchrist and the Lost Dools of the Anasazi” arc that begins January 31, 2013, with Katherine’s first meeting with Atsali {when she talked like an English schoolgirl}, a page you can find in the archive, titled “Fellow Explorer.
Big Bird’s speech patterns may have changed, but from the beginning she was definitely the “Keap before you look” type
I don’t think it was so much that she spoke like an English schoolgirl, I think it was that she borrowed her speech patterns from old adventure stories.

Okay, i’ll accept that.
It was just that first speech about her books sounded exactly like something out of Swallows & Amazons.
Well, actually, it begins here, a couple pages earlier, with a potentially-NSFW pinup-type page of Katherine naked.
And the actual storyline begins here with her doing some research that leads her to questions she needs to go to the Library to research … and then she meets Big Bird and we’re off to the races.
Thank you for that, just re-read that arc up to the start of the Jet and Mon arc (about to get some sleep and don’t want to have that arc fresh in the memory)
D’aww…and I’m liking Lilly’s look here…
Can vampires get carpal tunnel syndrome?
that might be a racquet-ball glove or maybe a biking glove??
Gonna start the week off with feels, are we?
Well, we finished last week with sillies.
Right in the guts with today’s comic. :}
Did this come out of nowhere, or was it set-up/foreshadowed somewhere? This just feels extremely random…

Thanks for the reminder. Wish the “related comics” linked to that.
After five thousand years, Lily still feels bad about being a vampire.
I can’t help looking at that iron fence and thinking what a pain in the ass it would be to paint.
