Elder Gods : Katherine Gilchrist isn’t hiding under my bed. She cannot cross the boundaries between realities… What do you mean her daughter is the Blackthorn?
Poor Kath. Memory can be quite the curse. I have to question if she’s still seeing a therapist after all this time though. When we first met her she definitely was, but a lot has changed for her and I can’t say that I’ve seen even a reference to her seeing a therapist after she met the girls.
This may not bode well. Atsali has already left for college. Castela isn’t too many years away from being ready to do likewise, or otherwise live independently.
How will Kath do when she’s having “empty nest” syndrome, all alone in that big converted industrial building they call home? She won’t even have the burbling companionship of the late, lamented Oscar.
Oh, I’m sure that KATHERINE is fine… but exactly which one of the SIX individuals she’s made from is STILL having PTSD Flashbacks is the part of Kath that we need to be worried about right now…
For some of us the flashbacks never really go away, they lessen in intensity and frequency, but they remain. It’s been over a decade since I was in combat, but sometimes something will trigger the memories, a smell, a sound and I’m right back in Iraq for a few seconds to a few minutes. It’s not easy, but fortunately I was lucky to have a lot of help and for the most part I live a semi normal life. Kat is lucky in that she has children who love her, friends that truly care about her and the wherewithal to actively seek out treatment, it will always be a challenge and she will have the occasional difficulty, but as long as she can remember that she is loved and seeks out help when she needs it I think she will come through.
Hmmmm, PTSD much, Kath?
yup, compartmentalization at its very best.
Yup, I thought the same. PTSD. Kath gotten any meds or Therapy for it?
Therapy?
Well, therapists…
Their names are Atsali and Castela
Ten years {in-comic} since she met them.
Given her backstory, and what we saw before we knew it …
Without her girls, i wouldn’t have bet on her making those ten years…
Given her supposed influence in the MIB, you would think she’d be able to have the best therapy that money could buy.
The ‘best money can buy’ is not necessarily the best available.
For her, ‘the best’ just announced they’re home.
Plus, she has to decide she wants or needs therapy before she can get it.

“I’m just sittin’ here, reminiscin’…”

She has Brin…
At least it’s out-of-focus gore.
PTSD’s a hell of a thing.
Wonder which of the girls snapped Kath out of the waking nightmare

Katherine’s eyes lose lustre when she’s in flashback, but regain it when she’s recalled to the real word. Cool!
Looking inward rather than outward, is the symbolic intent, I believe.
Why the blush?
Awkwardness at indulging in being in the entirely wrong mental place to be “Mom”, if just for a moment.
