As somebody struggling with Kaiser, I’d have to agree. The sad part is that as bad as Kaiser is (and lordy, it ain’t good), it’s still the best option I’ve ever found.
I think the MI theme should be the personal theme for everyone. It should start with the fuse lighting just as we wake up and continue throughout the day, ending only at night as we drift off to sleep (to dream about MI advenures).
On the one hand I agree…and on the other hand I think some other epic theme music throughout the day would keep me from going completely insane. 🙂
Actually, when I was turning into the parking lot at work the other day, Thus Spake Zarathustra came on the radio. It made me laugh hysterically, and given how I generally face mornings that’s impressive. I decided I need a Morning Commute mix CD that plays songs of epic quality such as Ride of the Valkyries while I’m en route to work, and then ends with Thus Spake Zarathustra when I get into the parking lot.
If I woke up to the MI theme, and had my Morning Commute mix, I’d be the happiest little non-morning person I’ve ever known.
Sounds good. I guess it all depends on the mood in which you want to be when you arrive. The Cannon in D would be good for achieving a mellow mood upon arrival, whereas the movie theme from Superman would get you more pumped. Thus Spake Zarathustra is more like a climax in celebration of making it to work alive once again.

I’m old-fashioned enough to put on Henry Mancini’s ‘Peter Gunn (theme)’ on my drive to work, and Rina Ketty’s “J’attendrai” or Orff’s “O Fortuna” on my drive into town to start my weekend, depending on my mood. MI is an inspired choice, but would you switch it up with Hawaii 5-O? I would.
I know she went unbreakable-real-doll at 18 but would you really call someone who’s been alive for thousands of years an “18 year old girl”? YES YES YES I KNOW I KNOW THE DETAILS, but that doesn’t negate her having acumilated the life experiences of someone living this long. Jack Harkness became immortal at around 25 or so, but would you call him a 25 year old?

If anyone here judges someone else here based on the occasional mistake in either, well, screw ’em. Who cares what they think. I’ve posited the theory that the GGs are ‘locked’ at their state at time of death/golemifcation before. They can learn some, but will never cognitively develop in normal patterns. (Which is why they became ‘frat girls’ when kept drunk by Tepoz).
Though Bud does bring up a point. Without biology to work with, a lot of psychology goes right out the window. Though they do get drunk, so perhaps pharmacology isn’t ruled out…
To begin with, at the time she was alive, 13 was considered an adult. By 18 she would have already had a family with a couiple of kids. A girl she aint, a kid she aint. She would have had an adult mindset when shen was murdered, even if not married with children (that goes for the other two as well). Even by today’s standards, 18 is considered an adult in nearly all respects. Though 18 year olds today often aren’t and that’s because of society’s views, not biology.
So, despite the fun her mother had ribbing her about sex and her typical teen reaction, I seriously doubt she could be considered a child in any way. Throw in 56,000 years of existance, many loves and deaths with which to contend, and there is no way she can be considered a “girl” as opposed to a woman. A woman who should be more adult than any of us can ever hope to be. Someone with a teen mindset would have said screw it, and destroyed the world long ago. By in large, teens have no patience.
Jin maybe an adult in her society’s eyes, or our’s eyes. And children can act adult for a little while, but that doesn’t mean they can stay focus, and not have a breakdown. They just executed an “adult” killer grandmother with a teenager’s mind capacity. So, just because one ages/lives many many years they may not get any experience out of it. Jin has done well to keep herself together this long with the help of the calendar machine, we should add. But Jin still has her powers, and no machine to keep her balanced. Let’s hope Amanda and Kathy can add something to Jin’s solution.

Since it’s not clear how long it was between that activation and the creation of the Chimera, biologically she might have been 18, but chronologically, much older. Anbd mentally now she is VERY old, having gone through numerous resets. Basically, Bud is not explaining the situation well and is probably going to wind up pounding her head on a desk in frustation.
My sister had a car accident when she was 17. She suffered a closed-head injury, and even now, at 43 years of age, she is still kind of stuck at 17-18 in many mental respects. I could think of worse ages to be locked into, but as the man said, it’s amazing what one can live through. Anyway, in the years since, sis has gone into the army, has three kids of 20, 16, and 1 year old, is a part-time wildlands firefighter, and can still kick my ass if I get out of line. Jin can be helped, she has family/friends who are willing, and who love her.

This would qualify as a preexisting condition. The new health care law is supposed to eliminate that as a concern, but the paper work for covering someone who predates our civilization could be awe inspiring. Add too that that the cure requires a cyberpunk brain implant that uses Lanthian technology that hasn’t passed FDA approval and has to be used on an indestructible living WMD… I think there is enough here to employ a small office full of bureaucrats for several decades.
According to Parkinson’s law (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson%27s_Law), no bureaucratic office will stay small for that long, since they grow at a rate of 5-7% per year “irrespective of any variation in the amount of work (if any) to be done.”
I don’t know that a psychologists could help. If we assume that the problem is schizophrenia, then we are talking about a biological malfunction of the brain that has been transferred into an inorganic being. Drugs that might help with organic people are not going to work. They need a wizard. May and Monica are pretty much the most qualified individuals to help her.
Dude, I did study it for a whole semester, I’m not an expert but my concentration was the art of schizophrenics. The only people claiming schizophrenia are the characters in the story. They don’t have anything else to call it, and none of them are professionals. The only plot device that you should concentrate on is that I’m allowing my characters to be fallible. Characters are allowed to not know what the hell they’re talking about and learn later on in the story.
Saving the Galaxy was infinitely easier!
