I don’t think atsali really has anything with nadette; nadette has a kind of immature physical crush, and atsali goes wherever her friend pushes her without genuinely wanting that type of relationship
Was expecting skylar to end up revealing this as atsali develops feelings and has wants and desires in this new relationship
By that reckoning the same is true for each and every relationship in this comic. You seem to forget, that between a large cast and the timeskips, most of the relationship development happens off-screen. We’re only really treated to snippets, little “slices” of life, if you will. Atsali and Nadine have been together for six years, and stayed together despite the long distance, that alone speaks for their relationship.
Yee Gawds! you people are morbid. the way i see it is that Scarlet has a very British sense of humor, one that’s very much in the line of Monty Python… she’s just messing with Shawna’s head in order to set her mind at ease about the feelings she realized she had for Hiroshi aren’t “just” a crush, but something “real” and that it’s nothing to be afraid of… and who better to talk about feeling such as these, than one that has ALSO recently undergone a similar change in status with their significant other (also at the prompting of Castela)?
Also, I’d say Scarlet’s demonstrating a mixture of dry wit and black humour, whereas Monty Python were pioneers of surrealism and absurdism. Totally different forms of comedy.
I am well aware of what humours are considered ‘British’. I was refuting the obvious cliché of using Monty Python as the sole go-to of British humour.
Just as I would admonish anyone for perpetuating the stereotype that Britain is a just stark contrast between the urban spread of London and quaint villages in the countryside. Not that anyone here ever has, thankfully.
Empathy isn’t love. Until you’ve had to do something you don’t want to do, or go somewhere you don’t want to go, or give up something important you care about… for someone you care for, it’s just a damn crush. Accept that and avoid the excuses.
True love is always bought and paid for with shared sacrifices.
Anyone who tells you different is selling something.
Speak for yourself, Scarlet.
This does not sound good for the younger Miss Gilchrist.
Meh, she has a Day to get over it, she’ll be fine
And here we go again!
I feel like Scarlet is in absolutely no position to be giving this kind of advice.
It’s still Puppy Love. What she has with Timothy, is puppy love. Hell to be absolutely blunt… what Atsali has with Nadette, is puppy love.

What is up with people wanting to see healthy, happy, relationships fail? o_O
Guesticus… Do not make me break out the Ted Buckland gif…
… Who? o_O

I meant Nadette *facepalm*
Shawna, all men are initiates into the mysteries of death . . . girls too.
Uh, what’t the next stage beyond Puppy Love? Is it a Crush?
First you get a puppy, then it gets horny, then you have it neutered. That’s LOVE.
Run Hiroshi, RUN!!!
I think what Shawna’s going through – and Scarlet has already – is the passing from the idea of loving someone to the actual feeling.
Puppy or otherwise.
I think these days, they genuinely prescribe drugs to make you stop feeling symptoms like that.
How sad. 🙁

Are you referring to humour?

Dry wit and black humour are still very much a ‘British’ thing

much worse than that.
