with the exclamation point above Digit, and the P.O.’d look on Monica’s face, I’m going to assume that M threw Digit BACK onto Amanda in panel 5 1/2…

No throwing necessary, she just had to ask digit to go get her…

In Australia, Amanda’s reaction would be COMPLETELY justified.

Just the most poisonous? We have 9 of the top 10 most poisonous spiders in the world down here! Or, put another way, we have 9 of the top 9 😛

Or was that snakes? I always get those two statistics mixed up

Poisonous is for when you ingest or inhale something. When it bites or stings you, then it’s ‘venomous’.

We’ve got like the top-10 deadliest spiders and 9 of the top-10 deadliest snakes in the world, here in Aus. And that’s just the LAND animals, not counting the bastards that live in the water down here.
‘Merica has a relative of our Redback though – the Black Widow.

Hy kan onderstund dat, chust remember dat even tough hyu might hef de same number uf appendages most schpiders hain’t very fond uf de sea, espeschially de part uf de sea dats below de surface. So she might not be gott gurlfriend material for hyu…

Katherine would have done the same thing…

Except, she wouldn’t have thrown Digit (or any other spider) at her

Remember, Katherine collects spiders because SHE’S creeped out by them.

Spiders are great to have around; they EAT all the bugs that actually bother humans, like mosquitos and bed bugs. At home, my policy is, if the web isn’t getting in the way of where people walk, leave it be.

I grant this philosophy of mine may not be transferable to all geographic locations, such as Australia, where every other thing that moves is poisonous, but for North America, it’s workable.

Same here: completely freaked out by spiders (still have trouble just looking at pictures in books or on screen), but as long as they remain in the window area of the toilet they can stay, anywhere else and mum has to remove them (safely if possible: put them into a container or jar and take them outside)

The breeds of spiders living indoors generally cannot survive outside. You’re not doing them any mercy by ejecting them.

Once they all calm down (Amanda, Monica and Digit), Monica will explain things to Amanda, some ground rules may need to be placed (depending on how bad Amanda’s arachnophobia is, it may simply be that Digit keeps her distance)

I’m with Hinoron; spiders are always welcome in my room. As opposed to

I think it could’ve been worse.
Imagine if that were Shelly instead of Amanda.

I don’t blame her, I’ve come a long way with my arachnephobia, but if one touches me I still freak the hell out

Trying to break Amanda’s first speech into words. I get, “Oh, my godge! Tit of fmy faceiha! Tespiders!” I’m not sure about “fmy.” Seems unusual.

Amanda should have learned by now to not try teasing Deitzel with those Timmy (& Lassie) tropes 🙄
