Thought Aunt Monica’s 8-Ball shirt got destroyed back when Katherine met Atasli. Besides, would it fit Castela?

Considering it fit Aunt M (who’s chestier) and Aunt Bud (who’s skinnier), and when it isn’t worn it’s the size of a large spread hand, I’d say no problem.

That t-shirt is made of Unstable Molecules, just like the Fantastic Four’s outfits…

Do “Romeo and Juliet” laws not apply if there’s no Romeo?

Yes they still apply but this is just a tactful little message to set the pace. M is looking out for bith of them at this point.

Considering she’s only on the phone and not seen in this strip I’d say that’s par for the course…

Only 10 US states use 18 as the arbitrarily chosen Age of Consent. However, one of them is California, where the majority of movies and TV are made, so whenever AOC comes up that’s usually the number they go with. This has lead to most people falsely assuming that the “proper” “moral” or “standard” age of sexual consent is 18, across the country. In fact, 16 is the most common AoC in the USA.

There’s been numerous studies detailing how treating young adults like small children is damaging to them psychologically (In particular, dumping shame upon them for acting their age). A 17 year old and a 7 year old are not at all the same, even if the law treats them the same. Even if some overprotective parents would like it to be the same.
A century ago, there was no concept of a “teenager” or “adolescent rebellion” because there was no condescending, demeaning mistreatment for them to rebel against. A child used to be considered to be effectively an adult about the time they could do an adult’s job around the farm (so roughly about 14, but even then it was more merit-based than something believed to magically happen when the clock struck midnight on their birthday).

A “Lawhead” is a disparaging term for people who believe that a law, once written into the legal code, defines reality. The idea that human beings are (or can, or SHOULD be) completely asexual until midnight on their 18th birthday is the sort of delusion people who support these laws seem to believe in.

Let’s talk nature for a bit: reality based on evidence in the real world instead of poorly-educated wishful thinking written on paper.
Most girls are physically able to bear a child from about age 12 (not that I’m suggesting that’s a prudent idea, but let’s call that Nature’s bare minimum age) and their fertility peaks at about age 26, from there declining gradually until the point of menopause, when their periods stop and they can no longer conceive. 12-26 then, the most fertile years would be the age range Nature seems to think is the best time (biologically) for a woman to start her family. (Culturally, sociologically and especially financially are another matter entirely, of course). By the magical age of 18, half those “most fertile” years have already passed by. From Nature’s perspective, this is a bit late to be STARTING to experiment with sexuality, as though your libido hasn’t already been developing for most of a decade by that point.

Again, not advocating for teenagers to get pregnant (It’s the 21st century and there are MANY contraception options available) Just suggesting that there’s nothing at all strange, immoral, wrong, unnatural, or god-forbid, CRIMINAL, with a young adult in possession of a developing-whether-parents-like-it-or-not sex drive wanting to touch another human, or themselves, or experience an orgasm. That’s Natural.

And no poorly-thought-out set of laws that do far more harm than good is going to make it UNnatural.

      Well that became a wall-o-text, didn’t it? 😛

I guess my point is, if these two were my daughters, and considering the worst long-term consequences like pregnancy and a STD aren’t relevant to their relationship, my position on their romantic and sexual lives is “That is entirely their own business”, unless they’re asking my advice on some aspect of either, in which case I will do my best to answer in an honest and helpful way rather than use the cop-out of “you’re too young to think about these things”. Frankly, I think middle-aged adults and parents forcefully involving themselves in a teenager’s sex life (even to unilaterally –and uselessly– forbid that they should have one) is inherently creepy. Strangers and the government involving themselves even moreso.
