This is not new information for Monica or TIna. Shortly after Phix met her boss she passed a message on to Monica that he wanted to see her first thing in the morning. This was after he left with Phix to give her a tour the previous afternoon. The implication was strong that Phix spent the night with him. Or at least Monica drew that conclusion.
Actually, there’s some doubt as to whether Phix and M’s boss actually Did It – Phix appeared to have used the shock value of the announcement phrased that way to distract Monica and let her interact with Tina/Nudge privately.
As for me, I think it’s pretty funny the way she slipped that into the conversation so easily & casually. Not even skipping beat with so much as a “BTW.”
Phix probably has an affinity for guardians of the past, and from to Shelly description does not get along very well with the rest of the Sphinxes. Maybe the only real companionship Phix is able to feel is with humans.
Makes you wonder though. If the rest of the Sphinxes do not get along with humanity very well, how likely would they have been to have sex with them? It could be that all the Sphinx hybrids are Phix’s decedents, in which case Phix’s visits to Shelly in the otherworld may have been Phix seeing to the wellbeing of her great-to-the Nth-degree-granddaughter.
Interesting theory. At the least, she may have been one of the sphinxes to have done the deed with one or more humans way back when. This would go a long way in explaining her reluctance for killing humans in later life.

I think it is more likely that Phix dropped the information in “casual conversation” as she picked up her tea knowing that it would be relayed to Monica. Sort of a subtle “You have moped long enough, get back to work.” message.
Which creates a question of what the sphinxes interest might be in this latest adventure. Could they be the ones pulling the strings in the background?
AFAIK it not tina she has a problem with, but nudge, who used to be inside tina… and that shock was enough to remind any remaining demons to *behave*… 🙂

I don’t think Phix and Tina are necessarily friends. It may eventually get to that point, but I think Phix just keeps tabs on Tina. Phix has expressed distrust of what Tina is (demons running a mortal human body). She doesn’t have any present reason to ‘attack’ Tina, but that doesn’t mean she trusts Tina yet (perhaps this is why I root for bad things to happen to Phix ^_^ ).
Not to mention Tina’s demons have shown the ability to come up with interesting and status quo changing ideas in the past, or so Phix has said. I’m sure Phix wants to keep abreast of what Tina’s up to. Just in case it reaches the point she has to rip her heart out…

I think that’s “tricksters.” Demons want you to hurt yourself and get you to hurt others. That’s their fun and games. Tina’s dmons seem to be different in that they find such activity boring. They still manipulate, but in a generally positive way. At least for now.

The great Jimmy Finlayson once knocked himself cold doing a “double take and fade away” in a Laurel & Hardy film – hit his head against a corner of a brick doorway.
There’s always the chance that tomorrow will be several panels of Monica reacting. Or just one huge panel of her jaw hanging down.
Although of course this is the second time Monica’s had to deal with such news. The first time it would appear Phix lied, but maybe not this time. So it shouldn’t be a COMPLETE thunderbolt from the blue, but still…

As I recall, Phix has been “out” at least 4 times that have been shown in the comics. In Monica’s office, in Monica’s home (in sphinx form), at Tina’s shop to help Monica provide a cover story, and a brief meeting with Tina as to the disposition of the rogue demons. She may have become a regular at Tina’s lately as well. Obviously she has been with the boss at times.
I wonder how much of an ego boost it would give Gregory to know he has “done” a sphinx. Not something many men can boast about (and live to tell the tale, anyway).
Joe Minotaur- How many have you seen ‘fresh from the mix’ lately. The only known new sphinx is Shelly and she says she was a case of recessive trait forced into dominance.
A thought- “Oh look there’s Shelly and her new little sister,(sort of) why she’s so young she’s barely 8 feet long!”
