OK. But Tina owns the place, is scared of the dark, and would have a light in place to permit her to use the basement. So there’s a light in the basement, and a switch that Monica didn’t find.
My guess, since Tina is afraid of the dark, the switch is upstairs in the shop – in the light.
I assumed that Tina just avoided the basement. She didn’t seem to consider going down into it Friday. The boxes seem empty, so Tina wasn’t storing anything in them.
I would have thought that Amanda might be in the light coming down the stairs, but she is on the wrong side of Monica for that.
I didn’t see any shadows Thursday. There might be a faint one cast by the thing that looks like a cabinet, but it doesn’t look right.
Oh, I missed the shadow that Monica cast. Now it looks like the wall behind Amanda was casting light or reflecting light back toward Monica. If a separate bright light source was responsible for the wall reflecting light, or was casting light from close to the wall, it is surprising that it wasn’t lighting up Amanda, though.
The wall in the second panel could be the wall to the right in the first panel, assuming the stairs originated in a corner. That would mean that the pile of boxes is further away from Monica than I would have thought, though.
It seems that Monica somehow knocked the entire pile of boxes up against the stairs, given the way the one box is torn. She must have plowed right through the boxes to have done that. The boxes were not near the stairs before.
The boxes were stacked pretty high. If they were mostly empty, knocking over a stack on the far side might give you a domino effect; boxes all over the floor on the near side.
Can’t account for the missing railing. Don’t think there would be two sets of stairs. Whoopsie on the part of the artist?

I imagine Amanda played a larger role in several of the last incarnations (you know, the ones that didn’t end well). It has already been explained that these girls all have had a part to play in the past. That alone makes me wonder…

Possibly. Whatever info is in the Tanakh is several thousand years behind the state-of-the-art Lanthis proceedures used for the GG’s. Also, if the stories are true, the last time even a crude one was built was in 16th century Prague.
Well, if it were a golem, it could have been turned back into stone like Tepoz was, too. Perhaps these aren’t the same type of golems as in the Jewish writings. Besides thinking of the golems as people, Monica doesn’t seem to have been interested in studying anything supernatural, except to solve whatever problem was at hand. OTOH, studying golems might have been relevant to fixing Jin’s problem. We don’t know what she was planning to research at the library.
