The Blackthorn is a Prunus species, which is in the Rosaceae family. Its basic flower structure is basically the same as that of a rose… just smaller and less showy. It wouldn’t take much genetic modification or hormonal influence to change the one into the other… and Castela is dealing with both of those!
And, by the time he gets back, he’ll have teed up a three-week series of strips about The Travels Of Tiny Dietzel Among The Cockroaches. Heartbroken by the sudden departure of his friend Digit (who has been invited to guest with Kath for a while) Dietzel takes off in what is supposed to be a three-hour tour of a neighbor’s back-yard water garden, but is carried away by a minnow on a series of wacky, error-filled misadventures.
Paul could draw this out for months, leaving at least two subplots hanging fire on the cliff, listening to us scream and wail with anguish.
Mind you, I don’t think he’ll actually do that… but he’s hit us with bootlegger turns about that bad at least once or twice before.
Have a great Thanksgiving, see on Monday
See you on Monday.
Enjoy your turkey. Stay away from the pumpkin pie, though. That stuff is just weird.
More for me then. 😛
I wonder what it would feel like if Hiroshi were to touch her flowers.
I think it would be like a pat on the head then again flowers are pretty delicate so they might be sensitive ether way I see a lot of blushing
Well, they are reproductive organs, which have come to considerable notice for their sensitivity.
Of course, Castela is only 13 and no one should be monkeying with her organs. Unless you consider her 10,000; then she can do what she pleases.
I dunno. What does sudden death feel like?
I dunno. When I was thirteen, I was more than eager to have my organs touched.
I understand it’s quite…sudden.
I have no idea what a blackthorn rose should smell like.
I just like to imagine they smell amazing, with a touch of fae nerve gas for comedy purposes.
Musky, with a light, sweet undertone.
Blackthorns don’t grow roses, of course. They grow little white flowers. But you knew that.

That’s odd. The first time I looked up blackthorn I got something completely different.
What a birthday present, Wapsi Square returning. my 66th!
Shouldn’t Castela save that for the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day?
Don;t worry. She’ll make more.
And she looks very festive.
“There’s a rose the grows in No-Man’s Land…”
Maybe she can be someone’s flower girl? Who is getting married soon?
Well her sister has been dating her for over 3 years and mom has revered to her as a daughter in law, so marriage may not be that far off now.
Man I wish we could edit here. I look at my typos and feel like an idiot.
This is going to be one hell of a cliffhanger.
Enjoy your time off Paul and have fun with your family.

And, we liked it! 🙂
Great picture. One rose would have been perfect, six is overkill, still like it tho.
Six is good, for the splash of color.
You _do_ realize the flowers Growing From Her Head are an Involuntary Reaction, mostly to Hiroshi, right?
Little Pickle doesn’t look quite so little here, maybe aged a few years, like at least once before?
yeah, she’s in middle school, but has also an ancient aspect to her as well….
Aaaaand she’s been emulating Shelly, who we all know is rocking the yokes
What’s “rocking the yokes?”
Happy Thanksgiving.!
