Ahh, the intricacies of pbj making, and the eternal debate therein.

Eternal. When I was five (1970), I was SOOOOO upset that Mrs. Harre put the jelly on the peanut butter. She was soooo nice to scrape it off and put it on the other slice.

Peanut butter goes on both slices…then jelly goes in the middle.

But what if we take THREE slices of bread? And then we put peanut butter on two of them. And then we put jelly on one side of the third slice and put that slice on one of the slices with peanut butter. And then we put jelly on the new topside of the jelly-ed slice. And then we put the other slice of peanut buttered slice on top of that?

ugggh, pb+j is one of my least favorite of all the sandwiches… But that’s just me. You all eat them as you please.

Fractal designs in peanut butter, with jelly filling the negative space in the pattern. It’s the best type of sandwich to have with a nice streaming-hot bowl of mandel broth.

I butter one side first. Keeps the peanut butter from lifting my dentures.
OK. It used to be just to keep the stuff from sticking to my teeth but now I have a partial plate so…

I just eat ’em without my dentures. And I have full upper implants.

Is Dietzel EVER gonna get back to his original size???

Maybe, from exposure to Digit. Maybe he might even be able to change his size like the Fae.

The only correct way is to combine the peanut butter and jelly in a small bowl, vigorously stir them into a chimeric mixture, and then spread that on to the bread.

It doesn’t really matter to me whether peanut-butter & jelly are mixed together, or put in a sandwich seperately – I just don’t think that doing the mixing on the surface of a slice/piece of bread is a good idea.

With Smuckers Goober Grape, you can’t do them separately. It has been so long since I bought any, I had to look it up to see if it was still on the market. It is.

My mother does the peanut butter on both sides and jelly in the middle. Pretty sure they’d have burned her as a witch in olden days. digit’s got it right. One on each side of the bread. I won’t even comment on Goober Grape, I hate even the slightest sight of jelly or peanut butter in the wrong jar.

So nothing about digit’s mind changed when she was transformed, just her shape right? Dietzel and her were fully sentient with human level intelligence, but were Monica’s pets. What’s so different with a body change that she’s treated as a real person by para society now? Right now dietzel is owned, but if he transformed into a human form he would count as a free person?

      April 3, 2017, 12:21 pm | # | Reply

I think how she’s being treated differently specifically because her form has been permanently changed to human(oid). Now that she looks like a human, she’s required to undergo (mandatory?) education and training to help her blend in with human society since humans will be far more likely to notice her.

Deitzel may be owned, but Monica tends to treat him as a friend and near-equal (the occasional embarrassing costume aside), in much the same way as Luke Skywalker treats R2D2 or Poe Dameron treats BB8

I you check carefully, you will find Digit is ‘her own spider’, much the same as any normal spider…

much the same that Dietzel is ‘his own dog’ and gets to order pizza, play video games, moan about the quality of hifi he bought compared to Monica’s super system, etc….

Very much like the teenager still living with parents… 🙂

With an extended lifetime in the Library, she probably read a lot prior to her transformation.

As a civilized non-American, I proudly put jelly and peanut butter on different slices of bread, and DON’T jam them together. Vandals! Barbarians!

I have to agree. As a very picky five year on holiday with my family in Canada, I baffled whole legions of relatives we were visiting by insisting on peanut butter sandwiches. None of this foul jelly stuff.

But you could give me a JAM sandwich, with no trace of peanuts, using regular butter instead, and I’d be happy too…
