Considering that it’s Monica’s island, there’s probably a huge spiky black sea urchin on one of the beaches, just waiting to be cracked open for the uni. One way or the other, Atsali would get what she’s expecting.
All of them are rules to live by, but mostly geryhames’ – this is a very old rule, probably from around the time of Alexander the Great or earlier unless I miss my guess. Any warrior knows this.
I’m with Atsali on this one. I start worrying when life seems to be going a bit to well. that means the universe is out to REALLY kick me in the balls. if every so often I get punched in the face I know things are going right.
Heh. You and Atsali should both read Eric Frank Russell’s marvelous novel “Next Of Kin”, which explains this phenomenon.
Castela just took part in an adventure which went a long way towards explaining ghosts. Maybe Atsali and Skylar are about to encounter the Wapsiverse versions of Eustaces and Willies!
having read the wiki. Not quite. I simply know (and with good experimental evidence of this) the universe doesn’t want me to be happy. Any time I am not adequately unhappy the universe will do what ever it can to cause me unhappiness. To the point where I have experimentally found that the limit of what I can spend on my own personal enjoyment is right around 140 bucks. Anything more than that for my own enjoyment the universe will do its best to make me regret spending that money.
As long as you keep believing this, the universe will do its best to keep making your belief reality. And then you’ll believe it even more. It’s another kind of vicious circle.
Sorry to tell you, but in this case you are wrong. There are certain people whom the universe/the gods/whatever has it in for, and changing expectations/beliefs will not affect this effect. I have tried it. Changing core beliefs is easy. Getting a reasonable distribution of positive and negative happenings is literally impossible.

Rule number one of adventuring:
Do not start an adventure on an empty stomach.
First rule according to the Duke of Wellington: Piss when you can.
Never miss a chance to eat, sleep or pee. Never know when you’ll get another one.

I posted a comment just as the strip’s name was being changed, and that tab is frozen solider than a rock.
“Hey, I think…hey Pablo! He broke the President!”
So… Why does the porridge bird lay its eggs in the air?
I don’t know if Atsali could answer that poser, but who knows. Maybe the answer is back on the bus…
“I think we’re all bozos on this bus.”
Boy, are you guys dating yourselves!
Well, it’s not as if anybody else would date us.
Not all shoes dropped are lead clown shoes 😛
Grandma was unhappy because it got taken out of her check.
