However, she seems to be a much nicer person than most of the squid-faced eldrich horrors that Lovecraft wrote of (but he was writing for the penny-dreadful market, and may have been exaggerating the bad side of the eldrich-horror subculture for shock value to boost his sales)
Shawna seems to be rising to the occasion here. She appears to have jumped right into the role of Incident Commander, as a trained first responder would… take charge of organizing the response to the emergency, until relieved by someone who has more seniority/experience.
I wonder if Scarlet’s eyes see in different wavelengths. Or even different dimensions. As a pixie, she must be a manner of Fae. Perhaps she sees the portals to Faery.

For the first: I suspect this was just Paul not wanting to make the panels too crowded. Artistic license…
For the second: you may well be correct, as in the previous strip he was still in human form, and everyone else had gone “native” in the excitement of the moment. He might not have an alternative morph, or possibly he does have some ability to shape-shift but his human form is his most “natural” form and is what he would normally assume under stress. I don’t think we can tell, until Paul shows or tells us.
With Digit being level-headed and very smart, it’s not surprising that she’s able to get the transformation boon running again very swiftly. Just like the background program she was advised to think of it as: http://wapsisquare.com/comic/starving/
A very clever and amusing punchline, Paul… that completely falls apart if 80% of the audience was not aware that Dallya is some as-yet-undefined para that “is basically living metal”.
You need to introduce your characters better (and I mean literally introduce them). How about a profile/ splash-page pinup of each new character, with some vital statistics like their full name, the type of para they are, likes, dislikes, hobbies, a random trivia fact…
