I’m not sure that’s the case. The book said it was one of Monica’s three friends that Bud became close to. Seeing as how Bud grew close to Shelly, it sorta answers that. Throwing Janet in there may just be something to screw with our heads… Unless of course Janet and Bud are gonna become BFFs in the next couple days….
So THAT is Janet. So, what brought this about? It has been a few years since that strip was shown, so why bring in a character seven years after mentioning her name?
Anywhooo, Monica is right, who is she suppose to trust? Right now, she is in “DTA mode” (DTA= don’t trust anybody), and I cannot blame her. Ever since she started investigating the calendar machine, it seems as though a big bulls eye has been placed upon her, and none of her options look all that desirable.
Absolutely amazing the least couple of weeks.
.. but .. is this going to mean the end of the comic once they fix time and space and stuff? or does it? Sorry if I missed something obvious.
Actually, if this is the first time we’re seeing her, she can’t be that close a friend. Also, there’s always the possibility that it didn’t matter which of those it was, just so long as it was one of them.
Of course she’s on the edge of a flip-out, every day is one step closer to a nice big blank Future and a big box of crayons to scribble with. Something that rife and ripe with possibility probably looks scarier than a haunted house.
Monica is feeling extreme abandonment in a very deadly game and is jumping to the worst case scenario of someone who feels demoted to a game piece, she may be more dangerous to everyone alive than dead.
I’m gonna get a late bet on this one: “Her” is that lady that we’ve heard mentioned many times before, but never actually have seen (other than that little “flashback” a few years back). You know, the one that’s driving Jin bat#### crazy… Mayahuel.
Janet? So, Monica has a Janet friend as mentioned previously… the last time here: http://wapsisquare.com/comic/whats-the-catch/
What role does she play?
Janet was first mentioned all the way back here http://wapsisquare.com/comic/11062002/
She also works at the museum in the modern art section. =)
Not to state the obvious, but as TlalocW just referenced, is anyone else getting the bad vibe Bud picked the wrong friend?

Interesting riff…

Janet is now revealed as a Chekhov’s gun. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen Monica look more busty as in the first frame.

Wapsi will keep going. =)
YYYEEAAAAAAYYYY!!!!
WOO HOO!
*dances*
*..then hurts from old*
*..then sorta stops*

How’s Heather doing anyway?
I hate it when that happens!
Aw, just GREAT. Now I gotta go back and re-write the cast list.
See? THIS is what this strip does to me.
(Yes, that is the updated cast list, thanks.)

Paul…your characters are starting to seem more Omniscient as we go on. It’s a big conclusion for Monica to jump to that someone is going to kill her.
Monica is feeling extreme abandonment in a very deadly game and is jumping to the worst case scenario of someone who feels demoted to a game piece, she may be more dangerous to everyone alive than dead.
Hmmm. Tina said “You have to trust her.”
Doubt is female…
Sometimes a little doubt is a Good Thing…
Just to point out, almost all of the cast is female. Gender specifies next to nothing.
That’s what’s frustrating for Monica.

Aww, Monica; wuffo you go projecting on people?
