N-O-B-L-E, not N-O-B-E-L. One’s the description of something done for the good or betterment; the other’s the inventor of dynamite.

Indeed, though I don’t think dynamite will do much to the calendar machine.

Yeah, Nobel was the dude that invented dynamite and prize funds. Pretty sure Monica wants to be noble instead.

If your Swedish (like Nobel was) the word “nobel” means noble. Did anyone get that? ^^

Don’t worry, Monica. G’pa is going to be very proud of you…

Well, I am certain that if G’pa was still around, he would tell you that in order to be one of those heroes that ride off into the sunset, you are going to have to go through more than one situation where you think you might not make it through to the end. Remember Monica, you must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. You should face your fear, and let it pass over you. And when it has gone past, you will turn your inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only you will remain.

Possibly the most, if not one of the most artistic strips yet.

I am very much nit-picking, so discard, but that looks to me like that moon will not be new in just a mere 48 hours.

No tot be a huge ass, but you could really do with some more spell-check before finalizing things. Your comic is pretty sweet, but has very consistent simple errors. Like in this comic; nobel instead of noble. It’s distracting from the great plot, and I hate to see something so cool suffer from such a silly blemish.

Like this comment. If I had simply looked it over before hitting submit, I could have fixed that misplaced space.

To be hones,t I don’t think too many are overly distracted from the plot by a simple misplaced or missing word or character. If they are, there are perhaps deeper issues Paul cannot fix. Also, Paul almost ALWAYS (I hardly ever speak in definites and absolutes) fixes said errors. I think the internet could do with far fewer overly critical pain in the necks. Perhaps even far fewer pain in the neck people to the overly critical pain in the necks, but, hey, what can I say to that, hmm?

Todays image seems like a step up to me. It might not be the individual pieces in the image, but rather how you’ve brought them together. You normal is good, please don”t misunderstand. Maybe todays art just speaks to me more.

Love the strip, I’ve been reading it for at least a couple of years. The art recently is very different than the usual it seems. I’d suggest that the posting about how that looks a little more than 2 days shy of new moon is probably right. But hey – at least you got the right side of the moon darkened!

Wow, really fine artistic way to leave us hanging over the weekend! Just last night I was telling my wife about Monica’s adventure years ago in the biker bar, telling stories about her grandpa. This brings it all around again.
I can almost forgive the misspelling of “noble.”

Wow. I love the way you blend an actual photo seamlessly into this. This is one of the best, if not *the* best, mergers of a photo with art I have seen an any web comic. I’ve seen it done, but yours flows so well it just comes off perfect. Very well done.

My Ma always said that Dynamite comes in small packages. It’s what her uncles used to tell her when she was a little girl, because she was small for her age, but scrappy.

    B(az)oom goes the dynamite?

Okay, anybody notice that Monica’s G’pa looks like Alan might, in about 40+ years? And G’pa and Jin had a relationship. Maybe Alan stirred some memories…

And on a completely unrelated note: If G’pa rode off into the sunset, does that mean his body was never found? Could he still be alive, and maybe just hiding out?

So Monica is sitting up at 5 a.m. looking at her Grandpa’s photo? Because that’s when you’d see the waning moon like that.

And Millar, I think the moon is close enough to new – remember, new moon is when it’s fully dark.

Monica should know that courage is not the absence of fear but the realization that there are more important things than fear.

You know if Paul had a bit more R.K. Milholland in him (Something Positive), he could drive us all crazy by having Monica, Shelly, the GGs, and Tina all sitting around a table, hair a little frazzled, a few scratches and bruises, some tears on their clothing, but everyone happy and tired, talking about the great adventure they just went through, making inside jokes about it and never referring to what happened in subsequent comics. :)

      Oh, noes!

WHY did you have to come up with that idea?

(Or, just to be snarky, he could do a strip like that … and then, the NEXT day, explain that it was just hoax … or an Imaginary Story…)

If Paul had any Randy(R.K.) in him he would reply to my request that he speak at the church I attend on “The Inherent Worth and Dignity of Every Human”. The e-mail didn’t bounce. But he may feel he’s too busy to come down to TX to speak to a bunch of UU Pagans. ;) Or his own set of Demons is telling him not to.

BTW did anyone notice how much M looks like G’pa?

It’s that philosophy – which just oozes out of this strip at every corner – that keeps me coming back for more. And, if I might say so, if that message resonates so strongly with you that you would like him to come speak to your congregation, I’ll warrant that you could deliver just as passionate a homily as he could. Step into your greatness!

Building up the suspense! I’m glad we’ve been told this storyline is near the resolution or I’d be going crazy.

And pics of young, geeky Monica are always so adorable!

She DOES favor her grandpa. I favor my maternal grandfather more than either of my parents. Some families are like that.

Uh oh, strange thought coming in……….Is the Calendar Machine justmucking up Earth’s timeline, or is it hooked to the whole fragging Cosmos?
    Now my head hurts….
