You know, if I keep this up, I am going to prove myself to be an unendurable little type A prick …
I used to work in a newspaper, editing for spelling and grammar. Things sort of leap out at me.

Paul:, if you have the time, here’s a tip. Open a word processor and type in the dialog. Then run the spell checker. It won’t keep you from making an error in transcription, mind …

There’s a lot going on here that we don’t know about yet. I’m really curious to see how this unfolds; after all, Jin’s mother has a lot of splainin’ to do. The whole calendar machine part was exciting but I find I have a lot more anticipation now for the aftermath.

            A) a touching emotional moment with her long lost mother
            B) a violently angry emotional moment with her long lost mother
            C) completely loose what little mind she has left
            D) All of the above

With which Fairport added “’E) All of the above, but in rotation…”

Did anyone notice that ‘Something Positive’ has a WS reference? The bag from the restaurant that reads ‘Woksi Square’? *sigh* This gets buried in a bunch of comments about today’s comic when what we really need is a forum so we could just use the thread about Wapsi sightings.

Did I mention that the loss of the forums really sucks? Or that the links to the left of the comic are still off the browser page on a netbook sized resolution? Hello, is this thing on? :(

If it isn’t a manipulation, then it’s a test … or a trap. So just smile, nod your head, hand over your wallet, and repeat after me: “Yes, dear” … “You’re right” … “It’s all my fault” … “I’m sorry” … “I’ll try to do better” … say them in any order in response to even so much as a sigh from her. And never, ever assume to make a decision or have any fun without her, unless you enjoy sleeping alone.

I think the subject of the conversation was of little consequence. It was just talk until a mother and daughter who hadn’t seen each other for 80,000 years could relax enough to embrace.

I expect things to get rocky after this “Awwww” moment, though. Jin has spent almost 100,000 years and suffered enormous physical, mental and emotional pain (not to mention lost her humanity) trying to fix her mother’s mistakes. If she doesn’t have considerable anger and resentment over that she’s either a saint or she IS crazy.

And I’m STILL worried Jin hasn’t grasped that solving the Calendar Machine problem didn’t make her mortal again.

I personally feel that DeviantArt has become the myspace of the art world. I deactivated my account due to the messages from people who too easily took what I said out of context and warped it into a shit storm. I’ll be posting pics separate from the comic elsewhere on my own site from now on.

Well, of all those “social networking” sites that pop up like mushrooms all over the internet DeviantArt and last.fm actually seemed to me to be the only ones that actually have some practical use, but that might be different from a, errr, “heavy user”‘s point of view.

(Of course I only ever browse DA and just use last.fm to scrobble what I’m listening to – you’d have to point a gun at my head for me to touch the myface, spacebook, twitter, livejournal etc. “social” stuff without a ten foot pole…)

So, I just spent the last couple days reading Wapsi Square from the beginning up to the current date and I have to say that I’m impressed. :) You’ll definitely be added to the list of “check back daily or so” webcomics that I read. One thing I’m glad of, and I realize that it’s a matter of timing, is that everything (at least this particular storyline) was basically “wrapped up” by the time I got to it. There’ve been a few other webcomics that I lost interest in for one reason or another (lack of updates, not interesting, etc.) but I definitely enjoyed reading yours – and I’ll be looking forward to a lot more in the future! :)

Now what happens once the immortal politicians *shudder* find out she’s back in town? Does that make Kulkulcan a plucked pigeon? And how big a squawk is he going to make? Who are the other immortals? Now that Jin’s rogue doubt demon’s gone, what’s left (besides vanity, fear, etc)? Is Monica’s Doubt gonna do temp work? I am so looking forward to the aftermath! Great story. And more Selenium, please.
