Point granted. Some small places, OTOH, buy from larger off-site bakeries; Becky could simply be an employee. But, as I said, point granted – I’d rather they bake there, if only for the smell (combined with the coffee)….Dammit, now I want breakfast.

Hm. I thought Becky was afternoon shift, but the clock says 7:00. She’s either staying late or came early.

As to whether she knows about Tina or not, I would assume she’s got some idea her boss isn’t exactly normal, but she may not have been told all the details.

The clock always says 7:05. (I think it’s broken) But you’d want your pastry chef in early to sell breakfast goodies.

Maybe the clock key Tina gave to Brandi wound that clock, too.

Becky probably has a split shift. She likely does a lot of prep work in the evenings.. some pastries need 12 hrs to rise and such… and then comes back in the mornings to do the baking.

It’s not somuch ariddle as a “character-test” Every answer is correct, and tells Phix what book, or object is needed at that moment.

And with Shelly’s wild-streak, “wind-girl” is pretty apt..

Ah, now I see. Monica’s answer was sunshine. She is often referred to as sunshine. Shelly’s was the wind, relating to her personality as well. So the answer given by the individual gives Phix an insight to the respondent’s personality. The riddle, for Phix anyway, is a tool and not just some pointless question just for fun. We never got to Katherine’s answer since she fainted. Offhand I’m not sure what it may have been.

It’s interesting to see Tina play both sides of the Human vs Not Human card so smoothly. She feels the need to keep explaining to Shelly that she isn’t human, and at the same time continue to keep Becky out of the loop. Then again, one has to wonder how much she has actually heard from time to time.

There is difference between the tyrant “never stops working” boss and the Demon Collective “never stops working” boss. I’m pretty sure Tina is trying to keep the former with Becky. Which when most people say that, they always know its not the complete truth. However, I doubt Tina upon hiring Becky said ” Welcome to your new job, where its more about client confidentiality than the FBI, so keep work at work, By the way, I’m a Demon Collective! I’ve been dead for x- amount of years and can snap into a blind rage at any moment if the wrong person walks in, but I try my best to be nice to everyone, and to prove it i am going to make you the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had.”
If you’re boss said that to you, would you honestly take that cup of coffee?

I’d just assume she has a wicked sense of humor. It would be a plus on my scorecard. OTOH, if she suddenly proved it by showing a demon, complete with huge black wings like she has done before, well … aww, who am I kidding, it would still be a plus! And if a female, as in this case, a confirmation of my general view of women.

That would be an awesome arc! Tina is out somewhere, and so Monica comes in and gets her coffee from Becky. Who causally name-drops all the recent developments, as she’s been in the back room for a good part of them, and has heard just about everything. Nice recap, and more chances to draw M flabbergasted.

Funny though, that can be said of about everyone. Everybody has his/her “snapping point” by which they can get dangerous.

Tina has only a human physique , she cankill if provoked, but so can we. It is technically a bigger risk that the Golem-girls can devour complete planetary systems if provoked sufficiently, than Tina’s demons going bezerk, I guess.

    “It presently suits me”???

I doubt it. The real manipulator, Nudge, is gone, and even she wasn’t truly evil, just pestering and irritating, like the classic trolls. As I see it, The Demons currently in Wapsi-square are no more intentionally evil than an average human. The “queen’ that ran amock, and arguably could be called “intentionally evil” has already been neutralized.

If I got to believe Benthem, or Mill (utilitarianism) everybody is un-evil when it suits them…. You can add Nietsche’s insights on morality for the real mysoginists here….

Nah..nice try Tina, but You are good at heart. Although Demon “goodness’ isn’t always directly understandable.

I think Shelly, flaws and all, has hit the nail on the head.

If Tina is embarrassed by a violent outburst, she isn’t as evil as she likes to think. Really evil people see violence, -direct, or indirect- as a means to their own goals, and their goals alone. True evil is powered by ultimate ego-centrism at the cost of all around. That description isn’t Tina..

As is with the rest of the Wapsi-Crew, this is a tale about redemption.

      <i? "… a tale about redemption …"

I wondered if I was the only one who’d thought of that …

All comedy is, at heart, about redemption. Tragedy is, at heart, about damnation.

(And that means that we’re not sure what history is about until we get to the end of the story. Which could be any of 56+ endings in this world…)

“History repeats itself twice. Once as tragedy, and once as farce.”

          I forget who said it…

Love Tina’s look with the head scarf. Combined with the low-cut top . . . rawr.

Language drift … here we would say “pass herself off as a tyrant” but that could be the french canadian roots, eh!

Here’s another musing as I was watching the Langoliers.

Kimber Riddle looks like she could make an interesting Tina if Wapsi Square went to movie or something…
