Yeah, Czarzhan – I did not recognize Atsali until this strip too. Somewhat disappointing too as I find the “tipsy drunk” meme to be lazy writing which lost its narrative relevance in the 1960s. Given how she has been depicted and where she has been it looks and sounds more like narcotics.
What a weird take for so many reasons. How is that lazy writing? Why would getting tipsy stop being narratively relevant in the 1960s? What about this makes it sound like narcotics? She was smelling like beer in the previous comic. And she works in a beer hall.
Well… a few comics back Paul reminded us Atsali is 27 now…. Castella is 17, it’s been 12 years since they appeared in the comic for the first time (in wapsi time, of course)
A little tipsy, but Atsali probably does acknowledge that Castela could blast her into disassociated subatomic particles. But she also understands that her little sister is capable enough to recognize her and therefore not do it. TL;DR version, “I trust you.”
Catch her tomorrow morning with the lecture, Castela. She’ll be hungover, but she’ll be able to listen.
Make sure to lecture her at length in a louder and higher-pitched voice than usual.
“Fan service. That’s exactly what I’m talking about!”
It’s times like this that make me wish it was animated.
Wow. First time we see Atsali in a long while, and she’s kinda wasted. Somewhere between disturbing and disappointing.
It’s only been a day in comic time since we saw Atsali at Club Cerbusus. Or about ten days real time
In the words of Elvis Presley, “Little Sister don’t you do what your Big Sister done.”

How is this lazy writing? This is a slice of life comic, and women do occasionally get tipsy drunk. It’s just an interaction.

I want to see Atsali in a wet t-shirt now.
You mean a full wet-tshirt cast at least.
If you ask Paul to fansesrve us, let aim for the stars don’t you think ?
Castela has not slowed down long enough to consider that “dancing like she’s in a wet T-shirt contest” might actually be Astali’s reply.
Everytime we have seen Atsali recently she has been drunk.
Am I the only one wondering if Atsali might have some kind of drinking problem.
She was not drunk when we saw at Club Cererbus. Val was the only one that was sloshed 😉
She’s a college student experiencing moderate freedom with expendable money for what is most likely the first time in her life.
She’s not developing a drinking problem. She’s having a good time.
Gods, I’m an American and I still find the American hate boner for alcohol ridiculous.
Ever been run over by a drunk driver?

How does Atsali not just fall down when she leans forward what with being so top heavy?
Well, she’s a LOT stronger than a human, for one thing.
You folks with the ever so slightly negative slant to your comments- just sit back and enjoy the story and show.

Forget Oreo cookies; booze will make SURE you don’t know what’s going on around you!
She trusts you that much, Castela. It’s not condescension, its love and respect.
Y’know, if Katherine comes back and finds Atsali drunk and the turkey in the fridge eaten and gone, will Castela be responsible?
Atsaliʾs breasts are looking good on this page.
But it looks like she’s not wearing any of her bras in the top panel 🥴
The girls are definitely swinging in the breeze there!
“Nobody knows what it’s all about, it’s too much, man, let it all hang out.”
🤔 Shouldn’t Atsaliʾs Talisman be ~invisible~ while she’s wearing it❓
… not only ~invisible~ but ~also~ unable to physically interact with the world around it 🤔
Only Castela can see it, but I neglected to put any reference to that in that comic. My mistake.
