I’d hate to spoil the next comic… but no, she did not visit a salon.
Shelly regained her memories of her first few decades as a human, but hasn’t forgotten all the tricks she’s learned in 80,000 years of being a sphinx either.
Ah man. I was just getting used to her long hair. And how’s chopped it off again. But, wait. She can shapeshift to a Sphinx and back. Can Shelly now do the hair trick like Jin can?
Short hair and the old hairstyle will pass for now. Thing is, you can disguise your appearance, but you can’t disguise who you are. Shelly is not who she was and that will come through eventually. Sporting a dress and necklace as everyday wear is already giving the game away.
Actually, i recall it as Luci being combative toward Shelly because she thought that Shelly was not respecting Jacqui properly and Shelly just sort of putting up with it.
(I particularly recall two flat tires and a tire pump…)
You’d think that, but people have a remarkable tendency to ignore things that don’t fit their preconceived notions about a person. Someone might not realize a friend has changed unless some outside event leads them to expect the change. I learn lots of interesting things from people’s reactions to my crazy-person antics.
On the one hand, true…on the other hand, if someone is well outside expectations, it gets noticed. There was a lady in my office who ALWAYS wore dresses and skirts. The first day she wore slacks, I about had a heart attack and thought the world was coming to an end. Definitely noticed by everyone else too. 🙂
I think that Shelly has worn skirts and dresses before (though maybe not to work at the yoga place), but is that really a dress? Maybe she’s only out of character by wearing a necklace (which would be much easier to miss).
I’m guessing the confusion came from assuming she’s wearing the same dress she had on last time we saw her. It looks similar enough to her current shirt that it is an easy enough mistake to make, and we don’t actually see her lower body. Obviously, trying to teach kickboxing in a dress is not the best of ideas.
HUH!?… How in the world can you say that’s “close” to what she was wearing last time? it isn’t a dark color with flower print, it’s solid white. it doesn’t have those ruffly neckline things, it doesn’t have the really short sleeves, it has more of a t-shirt like sleeve down to her mid bicep. AND it’s missing the ruffles at the end of them as well. the neckline MAY be about the same depth, and shape, but that’s about it…
yeah, while ladies always moan about no-one noticing their new hairstyle, when my mate decides to shave his mustache off after years, I cannot register it, and wonder for quite a while, “whats changed??” 🙂
The only people we know have seen creepy girl are Monica, Tina and Bud. All of them have shown the ability to see other people’s demons, something that most people cannot do. I’d assume that creepy girl follows the same rules of visibility as demons.
Yeah, the long hair would freak her out more than creepy girl…but ummm…where is the long hair, exactly?
If Phix can lose the wings, as Shellinx can, hair isn’t a problem.
‘s’called a hair salon. It’s a thing we have.
falls out her chair in the floor laughing at your dry acerbic wit.

Oh, yay!! Short hair again!! XD
I love that look on her.
..EXACTLY, lol.
Maybe she can change the details of her human appearance now that she has attained her Sphinx-hood.
Or maybe she just cut it while we weren’t looking.
I actually thought about that first option. It IS possible. XD
Mebbe’ Shellinx has the same ability for” self-coiffeur-ing” as Jin… Bud is probably going to utter another ” well..shit” 😆
Ah man. I was just getting used to her long hair. And how’s chopped it off again. But, wait. She can shapeshift to a Sphinx and back. Can Shelly now do the hair trick like Jin can?
So I guess a haircut is a bit easier than a good excuse. She chose the excuse last time.
Boooo, I liked the longer hair Shelly. Shorter woks on Monica. Well, it was for a good cause, I guess.
“works” even.
your own undoing mate. read right over it. till you said something. 😀
Me Too. I liked Shellys’ long hair. She looked mature,Grown-up, SEXIER. I miss Monicas’ Rapunzel-like long hair as well.
Is that a stir-fried pony tail you want to see?

Even so, Shelly is being courteous toward Luci — an example of growth. Good for her!
Wait, I thought she and Luci had long since called a truce once Shelly started teaching self defense at Jacqui’s place.
Actually, i recall it as Luci being combative toward Shelly because she thought that Shelly was not respecting Jacqui properly and Shelly just sort of putting up with it.

Word.

But can Luci see Connie (CG) now? And has Shelley figured out how to explain what looks like a 11YO girl that shows up everywhere Shelley does?
Okay. I’m assuming Shelly can change her hair like Jin now.
Is CG visible to others normally?
If not, can she choose whether to be visible?

Pretty sure Phix has seen CG as well. CG was playing Guard dog for Shelly against the other Sphinxes.
i think shelly is the one which chooses whether CG is visible or not to others.
Nooooooo! The long hair is gone! I was really liking that look on Shelly.
Hopefully you guys are right and she can change it back at will. 😉
Frame two: “Luci sense…tingling!”
😆 😆 😆
“By the pricking of my thumbs…”
I think that’s her prisondar going off.
80,000 in solitary is gonna set that blinking.
Lmao
so she’s back to that look that she had at that time before the thing? cool.
I hope luci and shelly can get along better now 🙂
maybe this shellinx will bring out the best of luci instead of the worst 🙂
Awwww, I loved the long hair on Shelly. ;__;
“She doesn’t deserve to be freaked out.”?
Who are you and what have you done with Shelly?
And, maybe she just got a haircut? Occam’s razor would do it nicely…
???
Me wonders why would CG like Luci.
– – – – –
Thoughts:
1) Luci has a very similar personality to pre-Shellynx Shelly (self-doubting yet loud, angry, and stubborn).
2) CG still represents the boiler room, and Luci is someone Shelly never tried to let in, boosting her stock in CG’s view.
3) Where there’s Luci, there’s JACQUI !!!
CG has grown beyond the boiler room, too.
Luci, Shelly and her are all ex-cons. They all get where they’re coming from now.
Well, not sure Shelly/CG were ever strictly “convicted”, but, you know.
Is Luci an ex-con?
Since i’ve read Every Single Page of Wapsi, i must have encountered that, if she is … but i don’t remember it.
If that’s what you meant, where was it?
She mentioned something about Juvie Hall. I don’t have the exact strip, but I think it was just after Jacqui hired her as a fitness instructor.
Luci background includes some exposition about being in a State Home. Can’t find that strip at the moment Think it was a single strip
Not necessarily the Greybar Hotel, then…
Bah! If she can make up an excuse for the disappearance of her tattoo, she can explain away longer hair. Extensions aren’t too hard to obtain. 🙂
I liked the long hair. 🙁 But she still looks delightful.
Wow. We are getting all the old characters popping out. Keep things going this way and next we’ll see….
*Censors self to not jinx it*
A bit of a letdown after Tina’s bizarre “Trojan War” comment, but oh well. Seeing Luci again is cool too.
She is one of the people who knows Shelly the most in “normal life”, and would probably take notice of way-more-than-average hair growth.
You know what they say.
“Hair today, gone tomorrow!”
Thank you, thank you. I’m here all week. Try the veal, and tip your waitress!
