It’ll become clear further on in the story. Just remember this page.

It absolutely reeks of foreshadowing. And I’m on my first read-through.

buddha lived when he attained it. how else could he have told others how to attain it?

Nope, Buddha was NOT alive when he reached nirvana. He attained enlightenment, or, well, he lived one lifetime in the final step to enlightenment, and needed to go one more lifetime before reaching nirvana. He spent that lifetime here on one of the lower levels of existence trying to teach people how to reach it. It was then when he died, his “soul” for lack of a better word at the moment, he went on to enlightenment.

Just how many experts on Nirvana and the Buddha do we have in our presence here?

Death and Rebirth are frequently elements in tales of enlightenment. However, the enlightened person is not necessarily divine. Additionally, while something is often gained in the process, something is usually lost as well.

Tina’s curious (at this point) insight into the inner workings of others is what she gained. What she lost will become more evident as the series progresses.

Tina is probably my second favorite character (after Bud).
