This is how it feels to be popular, Rosslyn. Get used to it, you’ve fallen in with a crowd of good people, some of who can be a bit enthusiastic. Maybe you’ll stop blushing so much (no matter how cute it is.)
‘A bit enthusiastic’? That’s like saying Oklahoma City ‘got a little windy’ on May 3 1999…
At least Cass and her friends mean well, all things considered.
Rather than just tear a building down (or blow it inwards), people get to go in and strip it of anything they can remove (even if it’s nailed, bolted or even cemented in place) to preserve the heritage
Another thing I’ve never heard of, though it does seem like something I should have. Is her father a guy who cleans out houses of the recently deceased whose relatives can’t be bothered? (Took over a year for my family to clean out my parents’s house, but half of that was working up the nerve.)
That is what it’s called in the US, watch “American Pickers”, they often pick people who have been doing that sort of thing for decades (even before it became ‘cool’)
Daylla, don’t scare the bunny!

“Architectural salvage”? Is that what they call a ghost hunt nowadays?
it’s basically “ransacking old mansions and buildings for cool old fixtures, fittings, hardware, etc. to sell to rich people for their new mansions”.
Yeah, watch “American Pickers” some time

I’m not sure what that’s called in North America, but in the UK, we’d call what you’re talking about a clearance company.
This sounds more like a more upmarket version of Steptoe & Son (or, Sanford & Son).
Yup.
Maybe that mansion is haunted—or maybe whoever sold it or abandoned it was haunted by memories.

Translation: my dad just acquired a potentially haunted house and wants me to tag along to see if I get spooked out of my skull,
I still think Rosslyn is someone Monica would like to get to know 😏
