Two things – first, that looks more like an organic pattern coming from Castela than one of her firebolts.
More importantly, I might need to brush up on my Lovecraft mythos, but that looks a helluva lot like the silhouette of an Elder God in that last panel.
I’d like to think they soiled their pantaloons because they just found out why lurking at the borders might be a BAD thing: You might catch a stray shot. As a wise man said, it’s not the bullet with your name on it that you should worry about, it’s the thousand other ones that are marked “Current Resident.”
Is that some sort of “Tree” growing out in the School yard? Because it is Creepy and looks much like one of those
‘Martian-Walkers’ from “WAR OF THE WORLDS”.
See, they don’t have chalkboards anymore, so you can’t just run your nails/ claws/pinions/ hooves over it to get everyone’s attention. So, she had to do something.
There’s a Browser Game Called Pocket Nightmares that is less Creepy than it is Hentai. All suggested, nothing blatant, and an involving Story designed to make it’s money with in game purchases, or you’l spend all your Game Credits on additional Storage: https://www.pocketnightmares.com/
I learned that as the First Rule of Teaching. Maybe it’s Rule #2 but I always thought it was “Tell them what your going to say, SAY it, Then tell them what you said.”
Question is, how will the Elder God react to this intrustion?
a) Ignore it or be unaware of such a trivial thing.
b) Direct a tiny portion of its considerable attention toward it and make like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park.
c) React like the Demon King when the Quest Sprout decides he’s too much of a challenge in Swords Comic. Huh?
Somewhat reminds me of a certain ‘Demon Lord’ in another webcomic when he ‘visited the material plane’ of that webcomic.
He came in Boasting about how powerful and fierce he was.
He spent about a half dozen panels doing so, then hears someone clear their throat.
He looks and sees the webcomic’s powerful Warlord (who also happens to be the Mayor to a “little town just down the coast”).
This warlord once ‘accidently’ destroyed a moon with a fireball from the planet’s surface.
Well, the demon lord decided he would just “go over there and chill”.
Your friend just opens a portal to another universe with Lovecraftian horrors. Is your first impulse to say “Cool! Let’s go explore?” I can hear the Library making an “Uh oh” sound, alarming Phix and Nudge.
That “Little Nightmares 2” game they’re talking about though, I’ve already seen some videos over on YouTube about it…Spoiler Alert there though.
There’s also videos about “Little Nightmares” too, and even something about the DLC for a little side story that runs parallel to the main storyline…That’s spoilers too. Most I’m going to say about it is when the DLC storyline meets up with the main story, it’s pretty brutal.
Okay, so I am obviously thinking in an entirely different direction than everyone else here, but my first thought was “Is Castela now turning male?” We had that spot on a wall in school that would change the gender of the miscreant the next time the wall was broken a LONNNNGGGG time ago and I have been waiting for that particular other shoe to drop!
Extension of her vines? Burn pattern? I don’t quite get it…
But I’m pretty sure she is trying to get their attention, though…

An elder god that just soiled their non-euclidean pantaloons. Because they just caught Castela’s attention.
Just what Kat said on Feb 15 toon.. ‘Lovecraftian level beings’

Looks more like a silhouette of Yggdrasil to me. If Cass can access the World Tree – that would mean she can access anywhere, and possibly anywhen…
Oops, broke the wall between worlds.
I believe that would be the eleventh wall. 😀
Is that some sort of “Tree” growing out in the School yard? Because it is Creepy and looks much like one of those

I wondered about that.
That must be the Blackthorn growing and opening a door between worlds. Also, Daylla certainly looks different that she used to.
She’s been practicing her ‘human-ness’, personally preferred her before, both in appearance and attitude
I think the “kachonk” is the window crazing. I won’t testify in court, though.
I’m impressed! This has my nomination for the Sound Effect that more eloquently invoke the reaction Whisky Tango Foxtrot!!
Don Martin level onomatopoeia achievement….

I’ve seen this game. nope nope nope nope!

It looks like Cas has leared to open the doorways between worlds/Universes. She is now connected with Yggdrasil.
There is SO much potential for 4th Wall Meta-Humor here.
Not sure “learned” is the correct term here. More like “accidentally stumbled upon during a moment of intense frustration”.
Ïa Castela F’Thaghn
No, she’s awake.
What? I like to pick up exotic languages…
ELDRITCH HORROR FROM BEYOND WORLDS: “Oh, you’ve played Little Nightmares 2? Was it good? It’s not coming out here until next E̵͉̯̗̓Ǫ̶͎̳̳̑͛̚͠N̴̯͘”
uh oh
Oh, hey, I think I recognize that place! Aunt Shelly won’t be happy, though.
First rule of public speaking: get their attention.
I learned that as the First Rule of Teaching. Maybe it’s Rule #2 but I always thought it was “Tell them what your going to say, SAY it, Then tell them what you said.”
Yeah, but Castela is a student and not a teacher. So I had to adapt the phrase I heard (in “Barney Miller,” actually.)
Almost like Lichtenberg electricity artwork.
I’m not up on my Lovecraftian nightmare gods (in fact, I NEVER read Lovecraft), but this looks to me like we’re about to be introduced to one.
Thankfully, our little honey/thorn pot is equipped to make the critter regret coming here.
My opinion is you haven’t missed much in Lovecraft. Everything is “curious” or “eldritch.”
It’s good stuff, but you have to read it with your 1920s mind. Otherwise it’s very dated.

or..
“Oh, er sorry Castela, you called ??? 🙂 “

Here is the root of all her problems….I’ll see myself out
Having played waaay too much Grim Dawn, my first thought was – sweet, an Aetherial Obelisk! Moar loot!
This might be important?
And this is why you should never try to parse HTML using a regular expression. It won’t work, and it annoys the Elder Gods.
You win the Interwebz!
Your friend just opens a portal to another universe with Lovecraftian horrors. Is your first impulse to say “Cool! Let’s go explore?” I can hear the Library making an “Uh oh” sound, alarming Phix and Nudge.
That would be MY first reaction.
Suddenly, the creepiness of a video game just went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the priority list…
… so… about those anchors and that World Grid…
Could not reply to Valkeiper2020 (no link in above post) but what is the webcomic being referred to in that post?
Looking For Group.
BTW, that would be Warlock, not Warlord…He’s a real Dick.
FTW!
That kind of looks like Emrakul , the Eldrazi queen from MtG

No, now I’m pretty sure this is Blackthorn (capital ‘B’) stuff going on here….
Wrong wall, but good call back, would have been interesting if Stela accidentally smashed the wrong wall 😀
That was felt all the way into this universe. It sure caught a lot of people’s attention – on that side, and this side.
Look upon you all, and behold the power of the Blackthorn!
