I thought that she didn’t have a choice. The little girl who looks like her is of course stuck down in the basement (With a pair of scissors..?) drowning in sorrow over her mother’s death.
Where else would she be? Tahiti?
Ooh, all the brave things I recalled Shelly doing, her mom didn’t come to mind.
Anyone brave enough to shank her best friend in the skull because a crazy woman says there’s a problem no one else can see…
Sub-sub-conscious? But Creepy Girl’s level wouldn’t be sub-conscious to begin with. Your conscience isn’t that tucked away…well…at least it shouldn’t be.
Besides, Shelly’s far too aware of her (conscious therefore not sub). 🙂 Next level down is sporting goods anyhow…I checked. 😛
Dangit, now I have Marc Cohn’s Walking in Memphis stuck in my head. You know… “There’s a pretty little thing // waiting for the kind // down in the boiler room”
Vote people, VOTE!! Don’t make me come over there!
Okay, I won’t actually come over there, but I will send Creepy Girl’s Agent’s Secretary’s cousin Guido’s guard duck. You’ll be in fer an ankle peckin’, ya will!
This one is great! But don’t overlook the text for the art. Little Miss Spooky speaks volumes here. Saving Jin is saving herself. No Earth, no Shelly. What Shelly is risking is nothing compared to the End of the World!
Exactly! Lil creepy is proving she’s an awesome conscience. Talking her in to doing what they believe is the right thing, even when she doesn’t really want to do it. I must say, Shelly’s conscience not only never fails to satisfy, but tends to impress me a little more each time we see her.
That could be, however, I saw it as more of a foreboding of something Shelly needs directly. That helping in this, and perhaps other ways, will “save” herself as much as Jin. Offhand I don’t know in what way she will be saving herself, perhaps in finally ridding herself of the guilt and loss of the past. Save herself from a path of self-destruction she may be unknowingly on now.
I think these visits to the boiler room will do wonders for Shelly’s confidence…maybe she’ll stop stressing about her relationship with Justin when this is all through (that’ll take a few more visits to teh boiler room AND the wine cellar)
Paul, one of the things I love about you is that your art is always evolving in wonderful ways. Your sudden use of color is stunning and dramatic. These textures are also great.
So is this like when Groucho Marx in, “Animal Crackers,” tells a couple of women, “Pardon me while I have a strange interlude?” in order to have a conversation with himself? 🙂
So doubt…..making her do what she wasn’t confident enough to do? (I know it’s her conscience but all the Monica-Doubt stuff has left an impression on me)
You would think Shelly could “dream” up better accomodations for Ms. Creepy. Would it kill her to add a TV and ping pong table? Maybe a video game?
IIRC, Paul said it was the creepy little girl’s domain. It may be the way she likes it. She is creepy, after all.
I thought that she didn’t have a choice. The little girl who looks like her is of course stuck down in the basement (With a pair of scissors..?) drowning in sorrow over her mother’s death.

loving the colour… need more

Lovin’ the use of color, Paul, you’re gonna spoil us.
What he said.
Agreed. When we head up into the sun, I hope you keep it muted and textured. It’s a wonderful little trill of darkness.
Down in the boiler room – little Conscience looks more real than Shelly does.
That’s because she is more real than Shelly in the boiler room – the boiler room s inside Shelly’s head and she’s just visiting.
That’s definitely it. What do you think is on the next level down?
Furnace, water heater, electrical distribution box….
Must be where Creepy Girl’s conscience dwells. The sub-subconscious Either that or a wine cellar.
Sub-sub-conscious? But Creepy Girl’s level wouldn’t be sub-conscious to begin with. Your conscience isn’t that tucked away…well…at least it shouldn’t be.

@ Julie You mean automotive? Oh, right… same thing. 😉
“Basement dungeon – everybody out…“
Thank you — I’d never heard of that one. I’ll have to look it up.
OMG – YOU’RE the other person who saw that movie besides me……
I completely forgot about that movie.
Dangit, now I have Marc Cohn’s Walking in Memphis stuck in my head. You know… “There’s a pretty little thing // waiting for the kind // down in the boiler room”
I’m pretty sure that’s down in the JUNGLE room.
Hmmm… she’s acting a bit like Doubt, is she not? (except for the sdrawkcab hceeps)
I think she’s a bit more altruistic than Doubt was.
A bit like Doubt, only the exact opposite. So… this is (Self-)Confidence?
Well I’d imagine that happens when all of your demons get combined into one entity. 🙂 Shelly’s Doubt got shoved in there, too…
You can give me the moon-eyes all you want, Boiler-Room Girl…I still remember you coming at me with a pair of scissors. 🙁
How Keane!
Wot? No groans, hisses or applause?
How can we boo and/or hiss at a reference to one the the twentieth century’s greatest painting masters?
Hsssss…..
Sure, make it look easy…I’m too tearful on viewing his emotional work to do that…
This page is gorgeous!!
God damn those eyes are awesome work! really makes the page pop with the grey tones! 😀
Agreed…to this comment and the one above it. 😀
Gorgeous, expressive, SCARY eyes! Wonderful art!

Ducks are not as evil as geese. You’d do better threatening to send one of those.
Plus, I eat duck…so I wouldn’t mind you sending me one. 😛
*wanders off to vote anyhow*
You’d eat Gertrude? Barbarian! Still, maybe watch ducks aren’t all they’re quacked up to be.
….or ferrets
Is that a DEMONIC DUCK?!? (El Goonish Shive reference…)

Of course it…wait, what was I doing?
Can you send some of hte wine from the theoretical cellar with the duck?
there’s a good chap…
Send swans… they can peck your eyes out AND break your bones with a wing smack….
The last pannel is the first time creepy looks non creepy xD but cute

Three cheers for the inner dialogue!

“teh”….meh…
Didn’t figure you for an indie fan 🙂

Interesting progression from yesterdays coloring. Can’t wait to see tomorrow.
Her eyes are striking. Great job on the color work.
altruistic selfishness. I like that. We all win (sez my cats) Have some cake while contemplating that. *poit*al gun.
The Cake is a Lie!
Creepy Girl looks positively adorable in the last panel.
I’m digging the coloration in this one, especially the grey-blue being used for Shelly.
I love how she’s still creepy even while she’s adorable–not so easy to pull off!
Indeedles!
So is this like when Groucho Marx in, “Animal Crackers,” tells a couple of women, “Pardon me while I have a strange interlude?” in order to have a conversation with himself? 🙂
zomg i love her eyes. Almost couldn’t look away even though the creep-factor was waaaay up there. Things are getting so interesting! YAY!
Wow, talk about some intense drama. This is getting serious.
Also, I’ve not been here a while, so I’m surprised (pleasantly) that this is now in full color.
So doubt…..making her do what she wasn’t confident enough to do? (I know it’s her conscience but all the Monica-Doubt stuff has left an impression on me)
