After rereading this strip, something occurred to me. If his specialty is relationship counseling, why the heck is he conducting a study about how people react to being robbed?
His study could be something to the effect of:
“How power asymmetry and the threat of violence affects transitory relationships – a participatory study”?
He’s trying to find the one who will become Batman when he (or she) are mugged alongside their loved ones, obviously.
I can only conclude he believes Shelly to be a likely candidate.
For sure his specialty isn’t “risk assessment”.
Scientists will conduct whatever study will earn them some grant money.^^
I imagine there’s a lot of similarities post-divorce.
