The fact that Scarlet heard that message from Bud may actually be a good thing.
When Bud says it, what she probably means is “I will not permit you to write papers which will see the light of day, nor to break security by having credit for the tests on your record.” That’s not comfortable to hear, but (as Timothy said while tasting shoe-leather) it’s to be expected from a security person.
There are people in the cast (e.g. Phix, Tina, maybe Connie) that I’d hate to hear that message from… because it might just possibly be a prophesy. A seriously not-good prophesy. “There will be no papers written which will see the light of day… because your tests are fated to destroy everything. You will not get school credit for the tests… because you won’t be around to be educated.”
One hopes that sort of consequence is not lurking in the wings.
By the way, awful glad you’re back. So many of my online favorite comics of late have stopped, or concluded, or about to, so there are a lotta gaping holes out there, and having this come back fills a lot of it.
It’s great to see this comic making a return, but when I went to cast my vote at TWC, well, the banner is gone from the left sidebar, and there are five entries at TWC. There’s no way to tell which is official and which is some adoring fan. Regardless, I would have liked to have made some show of support.
