Hey, don’t you go pointing out the obvious… even though I completely missed it. Damn it. So I wonder what this form is. Is this here true true form? Paul will explain soon.
Annd I need to think more often. They’re in Norway. In my defense, brown bears are also native to Eurasia, though I imagine there aren’t many left in Europe.
This form is certainly no variety of bear that’s *ever* existed on Earth, much less wherever they are now. From the last strip, Nadette looks to be almost 10ft at the shoulder… near enough double the size of the largest Kodiak…
Contemplate this for a minute: Atsali whipped a ton-and-a-half bear with two blows. The words of a bear-attack survivor: “I didn’t fight off the bear. The bear left. You don’t fight off a bear any more than you stop a truck by reaching in and grabbing the fan.”

How long has it been since you were referred to an actual book?
gotta reply to you since i can’t reply to Guesticus: http://www.crystalinks.com/sirens.html sirens, from the original greek mythos, were bird ladies. When Sirens are named, they are usually as daughters of the river god Achelous, fathered by Terpsichore, Melpomene, Sterope, or Chthon (the Earth). In Euripides’ play, Helen (167), Helen in her anguish calls upon “Winged maidens, daughters of the Earth”). Although they lured mariners, the Greeks portrayed the Sirens in their “meadow starred with flowers” and not as sea deities.
and….is anyone even remotely surprised? Nadette DID move like she was attacking the others so why would it be a surprise that Atsali moved to help them??
I am of the opinion those trees probably don’t belong in Norway in fjord country.
I don’t think we’re in fjord country. I think we’re well inland.
But I’m pining for the fjords!
“We can’t stop here. It’s fjord country.”
That’s fine, as long as it’s not fnord country.
At least it’s not Chevy country…
I think I’ll Dodge that one…
If we brought a dinosaur in there, would it be a fjord bronto? As for the trees, enough magic in an area and everything gets, unusual…
Maybe they’re pining for the fjords?
Those are apple trees. They exist there. =)
Oh, poor Nadette. Poor Atsali, when she realizes what she’s done.
Whoops! Lol
Everything that Nadette was afraid of.
Sort of. Nadette was specifically that Atsali wouldinjure some severely due to her instincts being triggered. This is sali being protective.
Atsali is kind of hair-trigger. On the other hand, the world she lives in needs her to be hair-trigger sometimes. How do you balance?
By training her to assess the situation first
*facepalms*
Now I’ll be up all night worrying about Atsali and Nadette breaking up.
I realize Atsali has trouble reading facial expressions, but Devyn’s “you idiot” in panel 3 seems awfully clear.
I think it’s the flashing neon sign and the sirens and whistles, actually.
Looks more like the “I can’t belive you just did that, wait until you find out who that was.” face.
It’s that Chuck Jones’ “You have GOT to be kidding me” look to the camera.
Yup, totally the “You have GOT to be kidding me”
*Long low whistle* Awkward.
… About that bear, honey…
Nobody’s gonna say something about how boss Atsali’s face looks on her final form?
Why don’t you do it.
That is not her final form.
She needs a long soliloquy to power up.
She’s not “Over 9000!”?
Still don’t.think that’s Atsalli. She’s too big and we’ve never seen Atsali manifest a form remotely like this one. I suppose I could be wrong.
I think it’s “Heavy” in this strip. http://wapsisquare.com/comic/get-started/
Never mind. Paul confirmed it’s Atsalli over on Facebook.
Four names listed, four characters in the panel, we know the bear is Nadette, and we can recognise Abbie and Devyn.
Who’s left to be the fourth character?
Hey, don’t you go pointing out the obvious… even though I completely missed it. Damn it. So I wonder what this form is. Is this here true true form? Paul will explain soon.
Dennis: Paul said on Facebook it’s her full siren form.
Too bad there wasn’t room for a fourth and fifth panel.
4: A close-up of Atsali saying “What?”
5: “Isn’t your best friend a shape shifting bear?”
4 1/2: “Isn’t the black bear native to North America?”
Nadette looks more like a Grizzly, which are also native to North America, particularly the Pacific Northwest, Wyoming, the Yukon and Alaska.
Annd I need to think more often. They’re in Norway. In my defense, brown bears are also native to Eurasia, though I imagine there aren’t many left in Europe.

Ummmmmm….’Sali…..
This is the kind of thing that can really rupture a relationship.
And several rather important internal organs, as well.
Ruh roh.
this dont look good
First train to massive guilt now boarding on platform one . . .
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this…” >KLUNK!!!<
Wow, is that Atsali??
Never seen her true face, she only ever showed her wings and bird legs.
Contemplate this for a minute: Atsali whipped a ton-and-a-half bear with two blows. The words of a bear-attack survivor: “I didn’t fight off the bear. The bear left. You don’t fight off a bear any more than you stop a truck by reaching in and grabbing the fan.”

We have no idea how many blows Sali struck, remember, the last blow we saw on the last page came from Dette
Oh, no, I have a very clear idea. It was two.
You are forgetting that Dette got in at least one, very solid, blow
WHAT…IN…THE…HAIRY…HELL…HAS…ATSALI…TURNED…INTO???
Pul says it’s her full-on siren form. I prefer to refer to it as the Warbird.
Arrgh.
“Paul</i< says…"
Must be a different type of Siren, still only familiar with the murderous evil carnivorous mermaid kind

Like said, only familiar were the evil mermaid variety, and harpies were the bird ladies
Wait, how can they lure mariners (who were typically found on the waters) if they are in the middle of a meadow? o_O
They sang.
Now we know what’s scarier than a bear…..
and….is anyone even remotely surprised? Nadette DID move like she was attacking the others so why would it be a surprise that Atsali moved to help them??
thats what i was talking about on the last page.
Except, she was no longer threatening the girls but having a conversation when Sali showed up
*slow clap*
Have to give Sali credit for restraint in simply knocking the bear out (fortunately for her that she did)
Called it last page: Sali saw a bear menace her friends and went into “protection mode”
