This whole situation is making me want to pull a Big Brother to Little Sister moment and tell Castela “You don’t have to BUY a thing, or do anything corporate. Make her a picnic lunch, or a handmade gift.” Like her stone carvings.

Take her out for a movie and her favorite restaurant. Or a sporting event, or whatever else she enjoys doing. You’ve made a romantic gesture without buying into the corporate aspects of the holiday. And, like Dave said, you can always make her something special, like a custom, personalized rock carving.
FWIW, in which case I recommend a MASSIVE wet one, right on the lips! It’ll show Shawna how DEEPLY you care for her, without putting money in other’s pockets regarding you feelings toward her…
